Haruo Amano of Japan is Main Event ‘Bubble Boy’; 48 remaining now ITM, guaranteed PhP99k

PASAY CITY, Philippines – After more than two hours into the resumption the Main Event of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) 2022 Philippines, it took a three way All-In situation to determine which unfortunate individual would not be getting paid. In the end it turned out to be Japan’s Haruo Amano going down as the “Bubble Boy” and the remaining 48 rejoiced as they are now guaranteed at least PhP99,200 (US$1,731) as Day 3 rages on at the Grand Wing Casino,Newport World Resorts here.

The pivotal moment came in Level 19 (Blinds: 4,000/8,000 with 8.000 BB Ante) as Filipino Joey Pardales made a raise from MP1 and was called by Amano on the Dealer Button (D).

But then the former APT Main Event champion Alexis Lim of the Philippines went over the top from the SB for all his chips which barely got one BB over the initial raise of Pardales.

With action back to him, Pardales 4-bet, but Amano was still joining as it went to the Flop.

The Flop came: 8 8 2 as Pardales opened and after a short deliberation, Amano made the call. A big side pot was now being built.

The Turn yielded the J with Pardales this time shoveing his huge stack and Amano went into the tank anew. He eventually decided to call.

Lim showed A Q while Pardales tabled K K. Amano sheepishly revealed he had 10 10 and needed to catch one of the two remaining Tens while Lim needed one of the three remaining Aces to keep his tournament life alive.

The River was the A and Lim celebrated with his friends who were nearby. Pardales covered Amano and that sent the Japanese player to the rail at 49th place.

The day’s session will continue on until the Final 8 players are revealed.

The champion of this event will take home PhP4,915,000 (US$85,670).

Meanwhile, action has also picked up in four of five side events that are running alongside the Main Event with (Event #17) the finale of the 2-day No Limit Hold’Em (NLH) now at the Heads-Up phase, (Event #20) the PhP107,500 (US$1,875) Single-Day High-Rollers just getting underway while (Event #21) the Single-Day NLH  and (Event #22) the Deep Stack Turbo (DST) which is moments away from commencement.
