Final wrap! Lester Edoc wins APT Player of the Series + final side event winners

And that’s a wrap! The highly anticipated APT Philippines Championships II 2018 has come and gone and it was nothing short of fantastic. Despite the threat of a typhoon, the event ran as planned from September 13 to 24 at Resorts World Manila with players pouring in from all directions. In the aftermath, 48 countries were represented, 674 unique entries, 2,585 total entries, and an overall prizepool totaling PHP 62,145,500 (US$1.14M).  Thank you to everyone that came out to support our event! We hope you all had a great time!

Throughout the twelve days of games, the APT extended four guaranteed events. For each one, the guarantee was blown to smithereens and in its place, much fatter and juicier prize pools. And with bigger pots, that naturally meant, … more players saw the money. Congratulations to all the series winners!

Listed below are the APT Player of the Series champions and the event’s final winners.

Lester Edoc wins APT Player of the Series; Lim Yohwan (2nd), Alexis Lim (3rd)

Just like last series, Lester Edoc swept it! He won the Main Event, he placed 20th at the MegaSportsWorld Deep Stack Turbo, and to close out the festival, he took down the Monster Stack event. For this, he accrued the highest number of points to become the APT Player of the Series winner. APT Player of the Series leaderboard

Edoc also had another victory although this event was not point-generating; he won the CoinPoker Super High Rollers event. His combined earnings amounted to over PHP6.3M making him the largest cash earner at the festival. We will be seeing Edoc soon; he won a Main Event seat to the upcoming APT Vietnam 2018 through the CoinPoker Last Man Standing promo.

At the final day of the series, Lim Yohwan zoomed from 7th position all the way to 2nd at the APT POS race after winning the Championships Event. He also won the CoinPoker High Rollers Single Day Shot Clock event.

Finishing 3rd was Alexis Lim who pulled ahead of Martin Corpuz on the final day to slide into 3rd place. Lim didn’t land any victories but his four deep runs were enough for 3rd place.

Final side event winners

Lester Edoc wins third series title at the Monster Stack

The Monster Stack event was the last guaranteed tournament of the series with an advertised 2M prizepool. Like the other three guaranteed events, this one also drew in a big crowd with 125 runners driving the pot to a much heftier PHP 3,031,200. The event ran for two days. In the end, it was Lester Edoc once again up top. Edoc defeated Soo Jo Kim for the title and went on to win it. He pocketed the PHP 731,600 first prize and his third victory at the festival.

Karlsson Magnus wins the 6 Handed event

The only short-handed event was held on the final day which was won by Karlsson Peterson Magnus. He topped a field of 56 entries to earn the PHP 158,400 first prize.

William Ysmael bags the last trophy

Metro Team Pro William Ysmael added in another trophy for the host country. He topped the 58 entries of the Deep Stack Hyper Turbo for a pad up of PHP 81,900.

Shyh Chyn Lim rakes in at the SNG OFC Pineapple

Malaysia’s Shyh Chyn Lim may not have ruled at the scheduled events with only two cashes – PLO Hi Li Split and the Monster Stack, but he raked it in at the Sit N’ Gos winning three OFC Pineapple games.
