Day 2 of APT Philippines II Main Event bags up with 57 remaining; Ong Dingxiang and Hwany Lee top the counts

PASAY CITY, Philippines – Exciting day at APT Philippines II as players hustled in for Day 2 of the Main Event at Newport World Resorts. The floodgates opened with 201 players charging in from the Day 1 heats led by India’s Laksh Pal Singh, and with registration still available for the first two hours, it dragged in another 85 runners. This boosted the combined event attendance to 497 entries. By the end of the day’s scheduled eight rounds, the field trimmed to just 57 players. When action resumes on Day 3, Monday, September 12, they are just seven busts away from dipping in the mighty Php 24,104,500 (~US$ 434,225) prize pool.

Ong Dingxiang

Closing the heat as chip leaders were Singapore’s Ong Dingxiang with 589,000 (117 BB) and Korea’s Hwany Lee with 572,000 (114 BB). Both players bagged up over 100 BB. Several known players also pulling through were Sweden’s Sofia Lovgren Fullmer (86 BB), locals Marc Rivera (80 BB), David Erquiaga (48 BB), India’s Abhinav Iyer (30 BB), and satellite winner Kai Lee Tse with (41 BB). To catch some of the action, check out the recorded stream on APT YouTube and APT Twitch, or read up on the Live Updates.

Among those not fortunate to advance were three time APT champion Iori Yogo, defending champion Renniel Galvez, Victor Chong, Seungmook Jung, Vamerdino Magsakay, Jae Kyung Sim aka Simba. Feng Zhao, and Alex Lindop who busted on a bad beat with pocket Aces cracked by Marc Rivera’s pocket Jacks.
