Day 2 concludes: 158 enter Day 3, over VND1B awaits top 3; Tran has Chip-Lead

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam – A total of 158 players advance to Day 3 of the APT Vietnam Ho Chi Minh 2022 Main Event with the record field also looking at the eye-popping top prize of VND2.7B (US$116,100.00) going to the winner as Day 2 Flight B came to a close at the Saigon Poker Club here.
 
The second and third place finishers will also be in the billionaires’ circle with prizes of VND1,804,780,000.00 (US$77,606.00) and VND1,254,590,000.00 (US$53,947.00) respectively. The top 73 will be ITM.
 
With the 722 entries smashing the old Vietnam mark of 664 set in the 2018 Main Event, it will now be a test of will, stamina and endurance as the remaining runners battle down to the Final 8 beginning later (15th August) in an all-out battle that is expected to reach the following day. The competition resumes at 1:00PM (UCT+7).
 
Many of the players may not have much time to rest as quite a number have already made their way to the APT Players’ Party at the Poc Poc Beer Garden where an experience like no other awaits the participants and even the dealers, floor managers ad everyone involved in the event.
 
American Tom Tran attained the overall chip-lead with 338,000 while not that far behind is India’s Sumit Sapra is currently in second with 337,000. Third place presently belongs to Homma Kasuke of Japan with 316,000 in holdings.
 
Meanwhile, the Side Events also return with fourth Single-Day High-Rollers (Event #14) at 2:00PM, the Short Deck competition (Event #15) at 3:00PM and (Event #16) NLH Deep-Stack Turbo (DST) at 6:00PM.
