Day 1C sends 26 more to Day 2; 60 to contest over NT$7M in Main Event prize pool

TAIPEI CITY, Taiwan – A total of 60 players will be competing for the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Taiwan 2022 Main Event title and a piece of the new guaranteed prize pool of over NT$8M (almost US$225,000.00) as Day 1C had 26 players advance to Day 2 joining the 34 that had already made it through from the first two days of competition at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club) here. 

Bringing in the biggest turnout of 213 entries, Day 1C’s numbers put the total entries to 491 and is proof positive that this country’s love for the game has now entered new heights. 

Andy Liu ended the session with the most chips in the session with 667,000 now making him the overall chip-leader of the entire tiff. Liu is seeking only the second cash of his budding career after finishing second in a local tournament last January. 

Second place was held by Wei Chen Chen with 521,000 while Chih Feng Li got third with 318,000.

Everyone from this point onwards is now ITM and are assured to be paid at least NT$24,200.00 (US$760.00).

The champion, however, will be richer by NT$1,451,800.00 (US$45,630.00)

With Liu bringing the most chips into Day 2, his stack will be the target of his closest pursuers in Guan Syun Chen (second with 665,000) and Wu Hao Kai (third with 579,000). 

Day 2 begins later (2nd October) starting 1:00PM (UCT+8) and will play down to the Final 8 which will reconvene tomorrow (3rd October) at the same start time. 

Meanwhile, two more trophies were handed out as (Event #10) the Deep Stack Turbo (DST) tilt saw Hsiao Yun Ko nailing the victory in a field of 63 for NT$52,200.00 (US$1,640.00).

Second place went to Tsung En Yeh for NT$34,800.00 (US$1,094) while Kristof Segers of Belgium once again kept himself busy and captured third for another haul of NT$24,300.00 (US$764.00)

(TWN) wins the popular Deep Stack Turbo championship

In the third of the NT$27k (US$850.00) single-day High Rollers (Event #9), Chen Yi Liu became the first lady to take down a title here as she also won her third APT trophy and first since triumphing in the 2020 Ladies of Poker event. Chen also finished 11th in the recently concluded WSOP Ladies Championship

This time around her win netted her NT$234,900.00 (US$7,383.00).

Finishing in second was Chu Chi Jen for NT$126,800.00 (US$3,985.00) and Israel’s Ori Kossonogi also kept himself occupied while waiting for the Main Event’s Day 2 by taking third for NT$74,900.00 (US$2,354.00)
