Day 1B of the APT Main Event is Underway!

Day 1B of the APT Main Event at the Ho Tram Resort Casino is up and running with lots of new faces and familiar ones already shuffling chips around the felt. Some early notables are Marc Joseph (winner of the APT Vietnam Welcome event), Robert Nemeskeri-Kiss (winner of the APT Vietnam Ante-Up for Charity event), Singaporean poker pro Bryan Huang, APT Philippines 2013 Main Event Champion Khac Trung Tran, Sim Jae Kyung aka Simba (winner of the first-ever APT Open Face Pineapple event), and APT Player of the Year 2012-2014 Samad Razavi. We will be updating you when more notables make their way to the felt. Also check the Live Reporting section of the site for some of the action taking place.

*Walking in mid-way into the first level were Vietnamese descent poker pros Nam Le, Tommy Le, and Peter Nguyen. Nam Le has participated in previous APT events and today, he is playing in the first international poker event  ever held in his home country. In a quick chat with Le, he stated,

“I’ve only been back to Vietnam twice prior to this trip and I’ve never touched cards here… me and my friend were just talking about it now how we are actually in Vietnam playing poker, it’s pretty cool. A few years ago you would have thought this was impossible…. we came back here specifically for this event…. we are hoping to get more guys out here next year. It’s a great trip.”

Yesterday kicked off the first of the the Day 1 flights of the Main Event with 22 players making the cut. Simultaneously, the No Limit Holdem Multi Re-Buy+1 Add-On (Event 4) also took place. There were a total of 49 entries, an astounding 68 re-buys, and 36 add-ons bringing the total prize pool to $14,840. After a fierce heads up battle between Japanese players Azusa Maeda and Hideki Takafuji, Maeda rose above and claimed the victory.
