Comeback Kid: Phan Huu Minh Tri takes down the NLHE Warm-Up Event

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam – Down almost two-to-one going into Heads Up, local boy Phan Huu Minh Tri bucked the odds and emerged victorious against compatriot “Ryan” Ha Tuan Dung to claim the first trophy in the APT Vietnam Ho Chi Minh 2022 competition at the Saigon Poker Club here.

Phan, a regular at this venue, outlasted 438 aspirants to take the hardware and the top prize of 535M VND (US$23,029.00) in front of his friends who stayed on until way past midnight to witness the triumph.
Trailing 3,995,000 to 6,970,000, Phan made a bold call at the midway mark of their duel with Ha going all-in. Phan tabled As4c as Ha sheepishly showed Ks4h and Phan’s Ace high held to transfer the chip lead.

In the end, Phan called another shove by Ha—this time behind with his T9 of hearts to Ha’s J9 off suit. The flop was magical for Pham as it came J87 for a Straight but they were all clubs and Ha had a club and also needed a T to chop. Missing all 12 outs, Phan snags the first trophy of the series.
