Chien Fa Chou hit by two-outer, busts in 5th; Zhan Shuo Guo pads lead

TAIPEI CITY, Taiwan – Just before the break to end Level 27 (Blinds at 30,000/60,000 BB Ante 60,000), Chien Fa Chou got the best starting hand he’s had in about ten orbits but it ended up getting him eliminated in the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Taiwan 2022 Main Event here at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club).

With his stack dwindling after getting hit multiple times, Chien–a veteran international tournament player and a WSOP Online veteran–picked up J J in the SB after being card dead for what seemed like an eternity. The aggressive youngster Zhan Shuo Guo made a standard raise from the Dealer Button and was surprised to see that Chien went over the top.

After a short deliberation, Zhan decided to call for almost a third of his stack and tabled 10 10 and was visibly disappointed as he started counting out the chips he needed to pay his elder opponent.

The Flop looked wonderful for Chien: K 8 4 and the Turn even better as the 9 appeared.

But then disaster struck on the River as the 10 showed up, stunning even Zhan as he now gains a sizeable advantage over the rest of his competitors with over 4.3 million in chips while his closest purser is Feng Wen Chan with 3.3 million. Erstwhile chip-leader Fang Po Wen and Nguyen Van Dai of Vietnam both have 2.4 million at the break.

Zhan Shuo Guo is the current chip-leader with 4.3 million

Chien pockets NT$360,700.00 (US$11,328.00), his biggest cash of the year and best since 2019.

The Final Four are still LIVE on the APT Twitch channel.
