Day 3 recap

The APT Summer Festival Hanoi – VSOP 2022 Championships Event set a new APT Vietnam record with 288 total entries. With buy in at  VN₫ 38,500,00, the guarantee more than doubled for a huge prize pool of  VN₫ 9,777,600,000 (~US$ 416,866). Day 3 kicked off with 45 players back on the felt, each one hunting down the money starting at 29th place. Among the early movers was England’s Mark Remnant who entered with just 20 BB then went on a knockout spree to become one of the chip leaders. To reach the bubble round, Remnant delivered a bad beat bust to Nguyen Quang Minh aka Royal Flush when his A Q spiked a Queen on the river over A K.

The bubble round was a lengthy one, running for around 40 hands. Nguyen Trong Nghia was down to 2k and was forced all in on the big blind. To everyone’s shock, Nghia survived it and went on to win five more forced all in hands. Also winning showdowns during the bubble round were Le Cong Vuong, Slade Fisher, Dong Van Tan, Ham Heung Chul, Huy Pham, and Francis Garson who doubled up twice. It finally burst on Quach Chi Cong with pocket Fives falling to Chien Than‘s pocket Eights.

Once the money flowed, first to the cash out was decorated APT champion Akshay Nasa who busted to Deepak Bothra with A Q dominated by A K. Decorated champion Huy Pham followed in 26th place. The amazing short stacked Nghia managed to double up twice before exiting in 22nd place with pocket Tens outdrawn by Ritwik Khanna‘s Ace-Jack. Leading up to the final table of nine players, Bothra eliminated Ankit Wadhawan with A 10 pairing the Ace on the river to crush J J. Decorated APT champion Hue Dang fell in 10th place with pocket Threes losing the flip against Kevin Lim’s Ace-King. Remnant met his end in 9th place with A 6 outdrawn by Fisher’s K Q
