Championships Event Day 3 race to the Final 8; Seo Jeungu, Kamal Kumar Sogani, Pham Song Hau win trophies

It is down to the wire at the APT Summer Festival Hanoi – VSOP 2022 with only two days of games and four side event trophies left on the awards table. Three were awarded at yesterday’s Day 11, the winners were Seo Jeungu, Kamal Kumar Sogani, and Pham Song Hau. All three were first time APT winners. We’ve got those results at the bottom of the page. 

Up on the plate today is the featured CHAMPIONSHIPS EVENT with the final 45 players chasing down the money at 29th place and a Final 8 seat. Cards in the air at 11am. You can follow the action via the Live Updates. 

Joining the floor is the two-day Monster Stack event featuring a VN₫ 1.5 Billion guarantee. This is the last event with a guaranteed prize pool. There are two entry flights offered; Flight A is at 11am with blinds increasing every 30 minutes and Flight B (turbo) is at 4pm with blinds increasing every 20 minutes.

Tournament Structure

Also heating up the floor is the Super High Rollers at 1pm. This is a two-day event with buy in at a pricey VN₫ 86,000,000 (~US$ 8,667). Registration stays open all day and for one level in Day 2. Starting stack is 50,000, blinds increase every 40 minutes. Opening blinds is 100 – 200.

SEO JEUNGU wins the NLH Single Day

Brutal end for Malaysia’s Chang Xiang Guang at the  No Limit Hold’em Single Day. Guang has been chasing the top spot in the APT Player of the Series race and is ranked second with nearly 100 points behind the leader. He missed out on points at this event having bubbled with a full house over full house against eventual champion Seo Jeungu. The hand saw both players all in on the river Q A A 5 10. Seo had A Q, Guang 10 10

The bust out was a celebration for 6th placer Nguyen Van Tien who was down to just 1 BB. The trophy was claimed by Seo after defeating Ha Manh Tuong at heads up.

KAMAL KUMAR SOGANI wins the Pot Limit Omaha

Light turnout at the Pot Limit Omaha with only 10 entries for a prize pool of VN₫ 97,000,000. After a bad run of cards at the Championships Event, Kamal Kumar Sogani jumped in this event then bested Joel Farris at heads up to win his first ever APT title and bring India its fifth win in this series. Sogani pocketed a cool VN₫ 67,900,000 (~US$ 2,895).

Pham Song Hau closed out the third side event of Day 11 after defeating China’s Yuefeng Pan at heads up. This was Pham’s first ever APT win which came with a sweet payout of VN₫ 76,000,000 (~US$ 3,240).
