The Championships Event is the second featured tournament of APT Vietnam 2019. It kicked off on November 13 at host venue Pro Poker Club and will conclude when a winner is crowned on November 17. Here’s a review of the event numbers:

Championships Event Day 3 review
At Day 3, 26 players returned to action with Vincent Chauve leading the pack. Before the third hour was up, the bubble burst with Fu Bang Huang knocking out Dao Minh Phu with J♠ 9♦ straight on the river to crush A♣ J♣ on a board 8♣ 8♠ 4♦ 7♥ 10♣.
From there, the race for a seat to the finals continued. This is how they tumbled….

For the day’s ending chip leader Fu Bang, prior to delivering the bubble, he caught a lucky break when his 9♠ 9♥ improved to a set to double up through King Lun Lau who had K♥ K♦.
Down to the final two tables, Fu Bang shipped another hefty double up when his K♥ Q♠ shove found a king on the board to overtake Laksh Pal Singh‘s Q♣ Q♥. To close out his day, at the final table of 9 players his straight was paid handsomely by Vincent Huang.
Back at the finals was the day’s entering chip leader, Vincent Chauve. Chauve is in hot pursuit of the major APT title having finished one spot short at the Main Event just days ago. At Day 3, he started very strong, becoming the first player to cross into a million. Mid-day, his stack swung until a double up with A-K brought him back in fighting form. He later railed Ta Duy Quoc Chinh in 16th place.
Chinese Taipei’s Kang Feng Lien is also back at the final table. In July 2018, Kang finished 5th at the APT Vietnam Main Event. To earn his seat here, he landed a lucky double up when his K-10 dominated by Singh’s A-K improved to two pair when both of his cards partnered up on the board. He then eliminated Tan Nguyen in 12th place. Nguyen shoved with air on the river only to fall to Kang’s set of sixes.
Displaying an impressive run today was Vietnam’s Tien Quyet Pham who entered Day 3 at the bottom with 1k shy of 8 bbs. Pham doubled up multiple times to stay in the running. Pham has prior APT final table experience having reached it at APT Philippines 2018 (Championships Event) and 2016 (Main Event). He is looking to improve on his deepest 7th place finish.
As for Kensuke Koizumi, Go Mori, and Vincent Huang, this will be their first APT major event final table appearance.
