HomeDay 1A of the Championships Event is in the books and setting the bar high for the next heat is China’s Meng Dian Peng with 240,000 in chips at closing. Peng is no stranger to the APT; he has one prior side event tour cash back in 2012.
Finding his way up the ranking as well was USA’s Albert Paik. Paik is a very well known figure at the APT. He won the inaugural APT Korea Incheon Main Event back in 2017. Since then, Paik has been seen at numerous APT festivals. He bagged up 139,400 which puts him in second position.
To round out the top three was the only other player to cross into the six-digit marker, Lee Jong Yeol with 116,300 in chips. Also surviving notables were New Zealand’s Tae Hoon Han and Japanese pro / APT decorated champion Tetsuya Tsuchikawa.

The 11 Day 1A survivors advance to Day 2 taking place on Friday, June 7 at 1pm. They await the results of Day 1B which gets underway tomorrow, Thursday, June 6 at Grand Walkerhill Paradise Casino.
All about the Championships Event
For a brief rundown on the Championships Event, it is the second featured tournament of APT Korea Seoul 2019 and it comes with a guarantee of KRW 180 Million (~USD 152,000). In terms of structure, it is revered as one of the best in the region.
Day 1B is the last starting day of the Championships Event. Players start with a 50,000 stack with blinds opening at 100-200. The APT will be utilizing the Ante Big Blind format and the Shot Clock.
Players bag up at the end of 8 levels. Each level runs for 60 minutes. During that time, registration is open throughout. For late-comers, you can still sign up during the first hour of Day 2. Registration closes at the start of Level 10 which is at 2:15pm local time on Friday, June 7.
