CHAMPIONSHIPS EVENT climbs to 209 entries; registration still open in Day 2; Chien Than bags Day 1B chip lead

Day 1B of the CHAMPIONSHIPS EVENT saw a large turnout of 131 to bring the total number of entries to 209. This crushed the advertised VN₫ 4 Billion guarantee. The pot is now over VN₫ 7 Billion and will balloon further with registration open for three levels in Day 2.

At the end of today’s heat, 59 players bagged up chips with Vietnam’s Chien Than amassing 414,000. This was equivalent to 345 BB of the next stage’s opening blinds. A bit of background on Than, he ran deep at the Main Event with a 19th place finish. Coming Day 2, he will enter in second rank, just under Day 1A chip leader Ham Heung Chul from Korea.

Also closing the day with above average stacks were Francis Garson, Zarvan Tumboli, Nang Quang Nguyen, reigning champion Nguyen Van Sang, Superstar Challenge winner Dao Minh Phu, Nguyen Quang Minh aka Royal Flush, Ashish Munot, and first ever Championships Event winner Huu Dung Nguyen. Another notable player making the list was Hong Kong’s Park Yu “Sparrow” Cheung  who bagged up just over starting stack. Cheung championed this event back at the 2018 APT Macau.
