High Rollers Spice Up Second Day of APT Philippines 2014

When it’s high-stakes time, expect the big names to swoop in to the action for an opportunity to add big bucks to their already huge bankrolls.

The APT’s big game, the High Rollers Event with a $5,000 buy-in is set at 2:00 p.m. Thursday and is among the tournaments in the second day of the APT Philippines 2014 at the Resorts World Manila.

Before the highly-anticipated event was the Mix Game PLH-PLO Event with a $300 buy-in. Two satellite tournaments to the main event are scheduled at 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, the opening day winners were awarded their trophies during the day. Bryan Huang of Singapore took down the first side event title in NLHE Event #1 while Tetsuya Tsuchikawa of Japan won the Ante Up for Charity Event.

Both Huang, who won $4,950 and Tsuchikawa, who got $1,840, notched all-important APT points for the APT Player of the Year race and their victories Wednesday can only help their cause in climbing the APT Leaderboard.

The charity event produced a total of $2,710 donation to the RCMN Feed a Child, Build a Nation Program. $2,300 came from a percentage of the total prize pool generation and the other $410 came from APT Chief Executive Officer Jeff Mann, who donated all of his 5th place winnings to charity.

Check back late Thursday for updates on the side event winners in the second day of the APT Philippines 2014.
