Belgian tops Day 1B, takes overall chip-lead; Day 1C closes with 129 entries

TAICHUNG CITY, Taiwan – WSOP grinder Kristof Segers of Belgium garnered the overall chip-lead after a masterful performance in Day 1B of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Championship even as the Day 1C evening flight ended registration with 129 entries in the final day of qualification at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club) here. 

Segers, an APT side event winner who now resides in Taichung City, came away with 706,000 in chips while his closest pursuer in local bet Kuo Li Wei amassed 361,000. CTP regular Wu Ting Hao sits at third for the second session with 325,000. 

With the prize pool for this event now exceeding the NT$1.6M (US$52,092.00)–thanks to 427 total entries, the completion of Day 1C will see an additional fifteen runners go through and make the total number of aspirants 51 contesting the title currently held by Ping Hao Huang.

Day 1C closes with 127 entries and is playing down to 15 players to advance to the finale

In addition, the payouts have already been announced with the top 51 now all guaranteed NT$8,700.00 (US$273.00) while the champion will take home NT$318,500.00 (US$10,017.00). 

As mentioned previously, Day 2 will play out until a titlist is declared and that action commences momentarily at 1L00PM (UCT+8), barely enough time for those who survive from the ongoing Day 1C to get enough rest for the final stretch.

After this sortie, the APT takes Monday off before restarting at the CTP Club in Taipei City where the rest of the scheduled 21 events will be conducted until 5th October.
