Florencio Campomanes clinches the Super High Rollers

Last night, the Super High Rollers resumed its two day run and after a lengthy 10.5 hours of play, Philippine pro Florencio Campomanes clinched it for a cool VN₫ 513,060,000 (~US$ 22,400) payday. This was Campomanes’ second ever APT High Rollers title with the first one won way back in 2015. Congratulations to the champ!

Day 1 of the SHR event attracted 24 players and 5 re-entries for 29 total entries. 16 advanced led by Vietnamese pro Quang Nguyen. The next day, another 8 ponied up to bring the tally to 39 entries for a final prize pool of VN₫ 1,794,490,000 (~US$ 78,500). Just before the final table was formed, short stacked Terry Nguyen survived a couple of showdowns that in turn sent Vamerdino Magsakay packing. After the fall of Huy Pham to Li Wenxuan, Campomanes emptied out Vincent Chauve to signal the start of the money round.

Super High Rollers – Final Table

With enough chips in his arsenal, Nguyen (seat 5) booted Satoshi Kuriga (seat 7), Campomanes (seat 2) shipped all of  Vu The Tuan‘s (seat 6) chips with A Q outdrawing 5 5, then shortly after, Nguyen claimed another stack, railing Dang Duy Thanh (seat 1) in 5th place. At four handed, Spain’s Jose Carlos Gomez Martin (seat 4) lost a big pot to Campomanes but made up for it on a double up through Wenxuan (seat 3) with J J staying ahead of A 3. Wenxuan’s slump continued and gambled his remaining 6 BB stack with 5 2. When the board ran K 5 2 6 5, it was a triple up for the Singaporean. One orbit later, Wenxuan finished off Martin with 9 10 straight over A 7 pair. Nguyen followed out next with all his chips also sent to Wenxuan’s corner.

Down to the final two players and stacks nearly at par, Campomanes and Wenxuan opted to take VN₫ 500,000,000 each then play for VN₫ 13,060,000 and the trophy. It took another hour before a champion emerged. Along the way Campomanes’ stack dipped then recovered on a king high flush. From there, he continued to grind down Wenxuan until the final hand was tabled. Campomanes Q 10, Wenxuan 9 7, the board ran 4 8 5 5 10

Sebastien Clot wins No Limit Hold’em

Amid an excited rail, French player Sebastien Clot did his countrymen proud after defeating Hong Kong pro Chi Chung Ho at heads up. Clot’s first biggest pot was when he cleaned out Nguyen Hoai Nam (7th) holding K 10 flush to earn the chip lead. After the next three players fell, Clot was still the player in charge while PLO champion Nguyen Hoang Linh fell to Chi. This was Linh’s second cash.

It was a rollercoaster ending as Chi rivered the best hand twice to avoid elimination. Despite the catch, Chi’s rise was not enough to discourage the Frenchman. Clot dragged in multiple pots that soon led to the final  hand. Clot had A J, Chi wth A K, the cards felted 3 J 4 A 8 for a lucky pair to Clot and the win. Congratulations to the champion! Acknowledgment as well for Chi who joined Linh with two final tables each.
