HomeGood morning players! The Asian Poker Tour is back at the Pro Poker Club for our next big festival of the season, the APT Vietnam Ho Chi Minh Championships 2018! As the first international tour to break ground in the city back in January, we look forward to bringing you another exciting series with twelve days of games running from July 11 until July 22.
So let’s jump right to it, here’s what we have in store for you:
Opening Event: Monster Stack
We kick off the series with one of the most popular games in our roster, the Monster Stack event. Buy-in is VND 11,000,000, cards in the air at 1pm. This event is scheduled to run for two days which means the first winner of the series will emerge tomorrow.
Tournament details: Players begin with a deep 30,000 stack, opening blinds are at 25-50 increasing every 30 minutes. Registration closes at the start of Level 10. Once the freezeout stage begins, play resumes until the end of Level 17.
*Winner of this event will set the pace for the APT Player of the Series race.
Featured events: Main Event and Championships Event
MAIN EVENT – VND 6 Billion Guarantee
Our first featured tournament is the APT Main Event and this one comes with a massive VND 6 Billion guaranteed prize pool. This is the brand’s most prestigious tournament equipped with what is revered as the best structure in the region. The event takes place from July 13 to July 18. Buy-in is VND 22,000,000.
Back in January, Germany’s Adrian Esslen became the first APT champion at the Pro Poker Club and the first for the tour’s 2018 season. He overcame the thunderous 664 entry field, the largest attendance in the tour’s history.
Starting today, we will be offering Main Event satellites. This is a great way for those looking to secure a Main Event seat at a fraction of the cost. Buy-ins range from VND 2.4M to VND 4.8M.
CHAMPIONSHIPS EVENT
The second featured tournament of the series is the APT Championships Event. This event kicks off on the tail end of the main, running for five days from July 18 to closing day July 22. With a buy-in slightly higher than the main, the event tends to attract a tight field of high caliber players. Like the main, it also offers one of the best structures seen in Asia. Buy-in is VND 33,000,000.
*In addition to the prizes and prestige that come with winning the featured events, the eventual champions will be awarded the exclusive APT Championship Ring.
Side Events
The festival offers a total of 12 side events starting with the opener, the Monster Stack. This is followed by several No Limit Hold’em games of varying structures and buyins such as the Head Hunter, Single Day events, and Deep Stack Turbos. The highest buyin tournaments are the CoinPoker High Rollers events. There are two of these on the schedule:
- July 12 – 13: CoinPoker High Rollers 1 – Buyin is VND 107,500,000
- July 17 – 18: CoinPoker High Rollers 2 – Buyin is VND 43,000,000
*Take note that these two events differ in structure. CoinPoker High Rollers 1 has been altered to give players a taste of the APT’s Super High Roller structure. You can view the structure in the APT Facebook page. (Super High Roller event not offered)
We also have a new one to enjoy, the NLH Single Day – Ante BB. For those unfamiliar with the Ante BB, this new format replaces the old style of everyone ante-ing up, and instead, the big blind player antes for everyone at the table. The Ante BB is equal to one bb which means the big blind player will have to put up a total of two big blinds on his/her turn regardless of how many are seated at the table.

APT PLAYER OF THE SERIES
In addition to the slew of titles and trophies to win at the festival, players will also earn points towards the APT Player of the Series race. The three players with the highest number of points accrued by the end of the series will win a variety of prizes with the top finisher awarded an exclusive luxury watch, APT Player of the Series customized ring, trophy, and $800.
About the PRO POKER CLUB
Partner and host venue, Pro Poker Club, was the first poker club to open its doors in Ho Chi Minh last year and since then has hosted numerous local events including two of the biggest international poker events ever seen in Vietnam. A highly popular card room in Ho Chi Minh, the venue is split into two floors with 21 tables on the main room and an additional 12 one floor up. The venue also offers food and beverage.
At the APT Vietnam Ho Chi Minh Championships, the RFID table sits at the center of the main room and will feature the final table of the Main Event and the Championships Event. Other select side events will also be featured.
Important reminders:
To ensure everyone a smooth and speedy experience, we have a few reminders for you to keep in mind:
- Before entering the main room, everyone must pay the VND 200,000 Pro Poker Club membership fee. This is a one-time fee applicable for the entire duration of the event.
- Players must change their Vietnamese Dong to Pro Poker Club chips. These chips will be used to buy-in to any of the tournaments and to pay for any food and beverage.
- Only 18 years of age and above will be allowed inside.
