Malaysia’s Aik Chuan crowned the newest APT Main Event champion
APT Southeast Asia 2017 Main Event Champion, Aik Chuan
Malaysia’s Aik Chuan blasted through the 50-player field, knocking out five players at the Final 8 to be crowned the newest APT Main Event champion. He earned the largest single payout of the series, pocketing USD 14,790. He was also awarded the APT Championship Trophy and exclusive APT Championship Ring. China’s Hailong Huang wins the APT Player of the Series
APT Southeast Asia 2017 Player of the Series, Hailong Huang
China’s Hailong Huang made the game look very easy with multiple deep runs throughout the series. His impressive stats include:
- 4th place at the APT Main Event
- 1st place at the Head Hunter
- 1st place at the WeLoveSport.com
- 3rd place at the No Limit Hold’em One Day #2
- 5th place at the Welcome Event
With no other player coming close to his accrued points, Huang won the APT Player of the Series trophy which came with an exclusive Meister luxury watch and the APT POS customized ring. He also qualified into the Game of Champions.
The next two APT POS trophies went to Japanese players Mitsuru Sano and Jun Saito. Both players qualified into the Game of Champions. Sano scored his deepest-ever run at an APT Main Event, finishing one spot shy of the glory in runner-up position. He also landed 4th at the Welcome Event. These impressive results earned him 2nd place at the APT POS.
As for Jun Saito, he was one of the four players that claimed two side event titles, reigning at the Ante Up for Charity and the No Limit Hold’em.
Tetsuya Tsuchikawa and Sam Ng double winners
Both Tetsuya Tsuchikawa and Sam Ng have two trophies to take home!
In addition to Hailong Huang and Jun Saito, the series also witnessed Japan’s Tetsuya Tsuchikawa and Malaysia’s Sam Ng claim double titles. For Tsuchikawa, he kicked off the series with the same fire he brought to the APT Macau 2017 by reigning at the Welcome Event. To close out his week, he ruled at the 6 Handed Turbo to pick up one of the last remaining trophies. With these latest marks, Tsuchikawa now leads the APT Player of the Year race.
As for Malaysia’s Sam Ng, he dominated the Tilt King Monster Stack event and went from rags-to-riches at the Deep Stack Turbo.

With the trophy table now empty, that wraps up our latest event on border of Cambodia and Thailand.
