After 12 days of thrilling games that ran from April 27 to May 8, APT Philippines 2022 came to a close at partner venue Resorts World Manila. 22 players walked away hoisting event trophies and three players were recognized for topping the APT Player of the Series race. The festival drew a big crowd of 2,235 entries, 43 flags were represented, and a grand prize pool of Php 59,581,300 (~US$ 1,137,145). Thank you to everyone who came to support the event and help make it a huge success. And now, here are the final highlights of the recently concluded APT Philippines 2022.
Mike Takayama stuns with 8 cashes to win Player of the Series
One of the country’s highest ranking pros, Mike Takayama, never ceases to amaze. He blew away the competition with a stunning 8 cashes of which one was a victory. Takayama’s solid performance earned him 1,237.79 points to win the APT Player of the Series title and a combined Php 2,244,300 (~US$ 42,658) in event payouts. This was his career second APT POS title having first won it at the 2019 APT Philippines. For his remarkable achievement, Takayama was awarded the APT POS Trophy, APT POS Ring, an exclusive watch, and US$ 800. Here’s a rundown of Takayama’s point earning events:

Running from April 29 to May 3 was the festival’s crowing Main Event, with 370 turning up, more than enough to smash the Php 15M guarantee for a heftier Php 17,945,000 (~US$ 342,535) prize pool. Filipino player Renniel Galvez shipped it for his first ever major career poker title and pocketed an ICM deal of Php 2,482,200 (~US$ 47,265). In addition to reaching this milestone, Galvez cashed at multiple side events listed below:

2nd – Event 12 – NLH Single Day
2nd – Event 20: Deep Stack Hyper Turbo
He accrued 1,117.31 points to win 2nd place in the APT Player of the Series race. Galvez was awarded the designated trophy and US$ 100.
Newcomer Niroshan Loganathan wins two events
On the final day of the series, Canadian newcomer Niroshan Loganathan earned all the praises with two events shipped back to back. Loganathan won the Monster Stack event then proceeded to take down the last Single Day High Rollers. In addition to these triumphs, he finished 3rd at the Main Event to accrue a total of 1,064.10 points for 3rd place in the Player of the Series race. Loganathan was awarded the designated trophy and US$ 100.
Championships Event: MOSES SAQUING aka “moe jiggy”
Celebrating his birthday this week, Filipino / American player Moses Saquing aka “moe jiggy” won the featured Championships Event for his first ever APT major title. Saquing outlasted a field of 162 entries, impressively holding on to the chip lead the full length of the final two tables. He earned a career high score of Php 3,008,400 (~US$ 57,285). The event paid out Php 11,785,500 (~US$ 224,415) across the top 17 places. This was Saquing’s best APT series yet. In addition to the win, he finished 6th at the Main Event and 8th at Event #11: Single Day High Rollers for a grand total payday of Php 4,021,200 (~US$ 76,430).
Two wins for Jose Marquez Cheung
Impressive performance by Filipino player Jose Marquez Cheung who walked away with two titles and a 10th place finish at the Championships Event. Cheung and Loganathan were the only two players to achieve this feat. He earned a combined Php 731,400 (~US$ 13,900) and closed out the series ranked 6th in the APT Player of the Series race.
Mystery Bounty: HENRIK TOLLEFSEN
Norwegian pro / two time APT Main Event champion Henrik Tollefsen opened the series with a big win at the Mystery Bounty opener. He overcame a field of 254 entries to claim the Php 583,300 first prize and Php 291,000 in bounties for a combined score of Php 274,300. The event was another guarantee crusher, paying out a combined Php 3,695,700 in combined cash pool and bounties.
