APT Online Series India Day 8 winners: Abhinav Iyer, dilbaghsingh, Siddharth Pandey, & bencb789; 436 enter MAIN EVENT DAY 1C

Action packed Friday as weekend warriors poured in PokerBaazi.com for the ongoing inaugural APT Online Series India. In the aftermath, four players walked away victorious: Abhinav “griezmann” Iyer, Siddharth “Siddonuts” Pandey, player “bencb789”, and player “dilbaghsingh” who became the first triple event winner of the series. The Asian Poker Tour 2021 season opener kicked off on January 15 and will run until January 26. It is exclusive to players geo located in India. 34 of the 48 tournaments have now been claimed. Only 14 events left to try and secure a win. For those looking to capture an APT Trophy, only four are left, one at the MAIN EVENT and one for each of the Majors held on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.

Featured: MAIN EVENT 

Day 1C was the biggest MAIN EVENT starting day yet with 436 runners (310 uniques / 126 re-entries) burning up the virtual felt. 68 survived with Satyam “Pkiller28” Prakash as chip leader. With three Day 1 heats now in the books, that brings the cumulative entries to 1,155. A total of 145 players have now advanced into Day 2. They await the results of Day 1D before returning to action on Tuesday, January 26th for the title, APT Guardian Trophy, and APT Championship Ring. 

The MAIN EVENT is the APT’s highly revered tournament offering a deep structure. Player start with 15K in chips which is 250 times the opening big blind. Starting day blinds increase every 10 minutes. Buy in is ₹ 11,000  (~US$ 150) with a guaranteed ₹ 2 crore (~US$ 273,400).

APT #38: Super High Roller – ABHINAV “griezmann” IYER – ₹ 20.73 lakhs (~US$ 28,840)

No shortage of pros at the Super High Roller event with many turning up for a chunk of the ₹ 80 lakhs guarantee. 161 was the final figure at ₹ 55,000 (~US$ 750) each to breach the guarantee a smidge for a bigger pot of ₹ 80.5 lakhs (~US$ 110,040). After 9 1/2 hours of play, Indian pro Abhinav “griezmann” Iyer shipped it to seize ₹ 20.73 lakhs (~US$ 28,840) and the APT Trophy. 

Iyer is one of India’s decorated players. He earned his first major victory at the 2019 APT Kickoff Vietnam Main Event then clasped a WSOP bracelet that summer. He has easily over a million in combined live and online earnings.

The Super High Roller event was a deep stacked 6 max format. Among those seen at the virtual tables were Akshay “sherlock52”, Kunal “VasooliChacha” Patni, Dhaval “Rehab77” Mudgal, Kartik “TheInternetKid” Ved, Gaurav “gaug17” Sood, Sumit “boronyx” Sapra, Abhishek “singhsaab” Goindi, Ankit “d00mtr00p3r” Wadhawan, and series Championships Event winner Manish “thekid” Lakhotia to name a few. However, all failed to cash. Rubin “kornkid” Labroo bubbled, falling with A K top pair to Raghav “thatssosick” Bansal 7 7 flush on a board 10 A 5 8 5

At 18 remaining on three tables, Abhinav “griezmann” Iyer, Aditya “adit11” Kulkarni, and Ashutoshi “senojwod” Balodhi each denied two players, Kickoff champion Ashish “Notoriouskonvict” Nailwal did the same before busting to Raghav “thatssosick” Bansal to form the final table with Balodhi ahead in the count.

Within the first minute Arjanveer “holdbaby” Singh doubled up with aces against Bansal’s ace-king. Hefty pots followed claimed by Iyer off Singh and Balodhi then Aditya “adit11” Kulkarni’s pocket tens held against A8s to also get a boost from the leader Balodhi. Not so lucky was Bansal whose second all in showdown resulted in his downfall. Bansal had A 7, Balodhi J 7, the board ran J 6 4 A J for a winning trips to Balodhi. 

One hour into the final table, it was double up time again. Singh’s A J found an ace on the board to overtake Ankur “stonecold” Sehgal  8 8 then Kulkarni’s A A held against Balodhi’s J J. To make up for the lost chips, Balodhi cleaned out Singh with A 8 over A 6 and Sehgal immediately followed to the rail with A 8 unable to crack Iyer’s K K. Next two showdowns saw Balodhi pay out and drop to the shortest stack. He eventually exited in 3rd place shoving with K 4 that fell to Iyer’s A 8 two pair on a board A 3 3 7 QHeads up ran a fast six hands with Iyer ahead 2:1. The final hand was a lucky A 10 for Iyer that improved to a full house Q 10 4 A 10 against Kukarni’s A Q top two pair.

Iyer shipped it for his first series win and₹ 20.73 lakhs. For runner up Kulkarni, he also reached the final table of the  PLO event today to top the Daily Leaderboard and earn 50,000 in real cash bonus.

APT #36: PLO 2 Lac GTD – DILBAGHSINGH – ₹ 59.54K (~US$ 814)

Player “dilbaghsingh” is a definite force to contend with at the series. He became the first player to win three events after taking down Day 8’s PLO 2 Lac GTD event. His previous two wins were at the DST 5 Lac GTD and Hyper 5 Max 5 Lac GTD. For his recent takedown, dilbaghsingh overcame the 378 entries in just over four hours. At the final table, he eliminated four players to claim the ₹ 59.54K (~US$ 814) first prize.

The final hand immediately arrived with A 5 K 7 top pair to 5 4 8 8 with a final board 10 4 A 6 9.

Siddonuts denied Megastack winner Rubin “kornkid” Labroo at heads up felting A 5 two pair over Q 9 mid pair.

Brief recap of the final table, thumkhi bad beat bust Deep “ChristopherCoke” Patel in 8th place with A6o spiking the six to overtake A9o. Aditya “KesarDa” Kesharwani bumped out the next player with pocket Nines holding up against AJsthat missed. Player thumhki shipped another by sending Puneet “neo1” Dua out in 6th place. Labroo did the same to Kesharwani with pocket Jacks dominating pocket Twos throughout. At four handed, Siddharth “Siddonuts” Pandey grinded to chip leader, then Chirag “miyagi” Sodha tripled up to last two more hands until he fell to Labroo. Pandey went on to clean out short stacked thumkhi to face Labroo for the win. Six hands later, it was all over with Pandey earning his first win of the series.

After three final table visits this series, player “bencb789” finally closed one out. Benc789 triumphed over the 421 runners of the PLO 5 Lac event to pocket ₹ 1.06 lakhs (~US$ 1,450). At the final table, bencb789 eliminated Raghavendra “ThikanaCK” Hada (4th) with a full house over trips then did the same to thegrimm (3rd) to enter heads up with a slight lead against player “vjuneja”. Both players slugged it out with vjuneja winning the bigger pots to climb to a 2.5:1 lead. Bencb789 answered with a double up to switch up the stack sizes. Vjuneja grinded to chip leader again, bencb789 stole it once more then went on to win it with a flush.
