APT Online Series India Day 5 winners: Ashit Sharma, Armaan Kochhar, & a second win for Gautam Rohilla; Karan Kapur wins PLO HR trophy; MAIN EVENT begins!

The inaugural APT Online Series India concluded its fifth day at PokerBaazi.com with another five champions added to the list. The biggest winner was player Devvrat “intelinvest” Himatsingka the featured Mini Main Event for ₹ 8.49 lakhs (~US$ 11,600). Himatsinka was awarded the APT Guardian Trophy and APT Championship Ring. Other Day 5 success stories were Ashit “nexus010” Sharma, Armaan “Armaan007” Kochhar, and Gautam “M8a77” Rohilla for his second series win.  

The Asian Poker Tour 2021 season opener kicked off on January 15 and will run until January 26. It is exclusive to players geo located in India. 22 of the 48 tournaments have been claimed, five trophies awarded, and ₹ 26,245,000 (~US$ 358,700) paid out. Over one million dollars is guaranteed which means plenty of more cash to be won including trophies and rings, 

The featured MAIN EVENT ₹ 2 crore (~US$ 273,400) GTD opens today, January 20. This is the event everyone will want to claim. APT #24: PLO High Roller – KARAN “bozo” KAPUR – ₹ 5.88 lakhs (~US$ 8,040)

Lots of bullets fired by some of the the finalists at the PLO High Roller event. Spending the most was PLO winner Gaurav “gaug17” Sood with 5 re-entries however he still couldn’t take it down. In the end, it was Karan “bozo” Kapur who made it count, using four buy ins to get to the top and win the ₹ 5.88 lakhs (~US$ 8,040) first prize. Bozo also captured an APT Trophy for his success.

The PLO High Roller event completed in just under nine hours.  Among the players that cashed and profited were Rubin “kornkid” Labroo, Anmol “anzzzzz” Mehta, and Devvrat “flopCheck” Arya. On the eighth hour, Sood railed “mittpop” to form the final table of six led by “bozo” with Sood right at his heels. 

Ten minutes in, Sood eliminated Nishaant “shanni” Shanmughasundaram (6th) with a straight to take a slight lead. Monster Stack winner Prakash “Chennaino1” KC was out next followed by two showdowns between Karan “collingwood” Sitlani and bozo. Collingwood got the double up but then busted out several hands later in 4th place. At three handed, both big stacks, bozo and Sood went at it resulting in a big score for Sood of over half the chips in play. Sood went on to rail short stacked Vinay “vinay09” Rajpal to carry a 2:1 lead at heads up. 

Despite the advantage, Sood had difficulty shutting down bozo who climbed and overtook. bozo’s lead widened to 2:1 then 6:1 that even when Sood doubled up with 10 J 8 J flush on a board K 2 7 10 6 to bozo’s 9 5 6 7 two pair, he was still more than 2:1 ahead. The final hand came immediately after with Sood A 10 9 8 blank to bozo’s A K K 10 on a board 3 7 Q 3 Q.

The second DST event of the series brought in a sizable field of 428 entries with 54 earning a piece of the ₹ 4.28 lakhs (~US$ 5,860) prize pool. Ashit “nexus010” Sharma denied Vivekk “Vivek25” Dube a second win after defeating him at heads up. For his first ever APT win, Sharma turned his ₹ 1,100 (~US$ 15) buy in into a cool ₹ 80.03K (~US$ 1,000) payday.

Both players tugged at the lead with Vivek25 seen shoving the most and doubling up multiple times. However Sharma earned a double up as well and went on to win it immediately after. He went on to win it, denying Chirag “miyagi” Sodha at heads up. Armaan007 pocketed ₹ 1.03 lakhs (~US$ 1,400) for his first APT success.
