APT Korea Incheon 2017 begins today at Paradise City

The Asian Poker Tour is back in South Korea for another nine-day poker festival, the APT Korea Incheon 2017! The event takes place in the newly opened Paradise City from August 12th – August 20th, offering a KRW 1,100,000 Main Event and 17 APT customized side events with buy-ins ranging from KRW 165,000 – 2,150,000.

Through the years, the APT has brought its brand of poker to Korean destinations of Daegu and Jeju Island. Today marks the APT’s first visit to Incheon with Paradise City having opened its doors only several months ago. To describe the grandeur of this establishment, Paradise City comprises of a hotel with 771 rooms, the country’s largest casino, convention center, ballrooms, indoor and outdoor pools, bowling alley, kid’s zone, you name it, and there’s so much more.

Walking around the facility, not only are the ceilings adorned with incredibly gorgeous chandeliers, art work from famous artists the world over are displayed at every turn of the head. There are also six restaurants to choose from. In short, the facility is massive with an abundance of amenities and activities to keep anyone entertained.

Additionally, Paradise City is located within the business complex of the world renowned Incheon International Airport which means, the airport is literally within minutes away. Now that’s certainly very convenient for poker players who just want to hop in, play poker, and hop out.

Opening Day Events

Saturday, August 12th: The APT Korea Incheon 2017 kicks off today with the NLH Welcome Event starting at 1pm. The opener is one of the most highly attended events in the APT lineup with players gunning for that first payout. The eventual winner will also have bragging rights for having captured the first trophy and will also lead the race in the APT Player of the Series leader board. So start your weekend right and hit the felt! Entry fee is KRW 330,000 (USD 290 approx.).

Also running today is the Ante Up for Charity event for the benefit of the Dicha Hill Children’s Home, an orphanage in Korea for abandoned and orphaned children. Buy-in is KRW 300,000. A third of the prize pool will be donated to the charity home. Cards in the air at 7pm.

APT Korea Incheon 2017 Main Event

The highlight event of the APT festival is of course the APT Main Event. This is the most prestigious tournament offered and it is the only event where one can win the exclusive APT Championship Ring. If you haven’t seen them yet, these rings are gorgeous. They are solid silver, crested with the APT insignia. This year the APT has already awarded seven of these silver bands with Malaysia’s Aik Chuan claiming two of them in his recent back-to-back victories.

The Main Event gets underway on Tuesday, August 15th. It is a deep structured No Limit Hold’em tournament. It is scheduled to run a course of five days. Buy-in is KRW 1,100,000 (USD 965 approx.).

For those looking to secure a seat to the main at a much lower cost, there are four Main Event Mega Satellites offered leading up to the event. The first satellite starts today at 5pm with a buy-in of KRW 120,000. One seat will be awarded for every ten players. On Sunday, August 13th and Monday, August 14th, the satellite begins at 6pm so make sure to note down that time change.

The last satellite offered is on Tuesday, August 15th however the buy-in for this one is KRW 240,000 with one seat awarded per five players. Game time begins at 6pm.

Upcoming side events

In addition to the opening day games, there are fifteen more on the roster for your enjoyment with at least two events running daily. You can expect all the APT mainstays such as the Head Hunter, Monster Stack, No Limit Hold’em tournaments, 6 Handed, Ante Only, and Deep Stack Turbos. These events range from KRW 165,000 – KRW 660,000.

The schedule also features two High Rollers events both with different entry fees. The High Rollers 1 comes in at KRW 1,100,000 and the High Rollers 2 rolls out at KRW 2,150,000.

Sit N Gos on Demand

Throughout the nine day festivities, the APT will be running Sit n Gos on Demand ranging from KRW 110,000 – 1,100,000. These quick games are perfect for those looking to fill that idle time or simply itching to play at any time of day. Sign up is at the registration area. Game begins once the table minimum is reached.

APT Player of the Series

It is currently a blank slate in the APT Player of the Series leaderboard which means whoever wins the opener will set the pace in the race. The APT POS is this year’s newest player rewards/incentive program with the top three finishers (in points) at the end of the festival winning special awards.
