For the next nine days, the Asian Poker Tour will be hosting its first event of the calendar year, the APT Kickoff 2017. The much-anticipated festival gets underway early this afternoon and will run from January 11th-19th at Resorts World Manila in Newport City.
APT Kick Off 2017
As we look forward to the start of a great year, APT Executive Tournament Director, Lloyd Fontillas would like to welcome everyone, “A new year, a new event, and we could not have thought of any better way than to kick off the start of a great year of poker with our long time partner RWM! We are wishing all of you a great series and we hope you appreciate our new incentives for 2017.”
Over the course of the event, players can expect a wide variety of poker tournaments to choose from with 18 APT signature side events offered ranging from US$110-US$2,150, and the highlight tournament, the US$1,650 buy-in APT Main Event. The main is the only event where champions are awarded the solid silver APT Championship Ring. The APT Main Event begins this weekend with Day 1a on Saturday, January 14th and Day 1b on Sunday, January 15th. It will run for a total of five days. Satellites begin tomorrow.
The first side event to look forward to is the NLH Welcome Event, which begins at 1pm today. Buy-in is US$165. Then at 5pm is the second side event of the festival, the Ante Up for Charity event for the benefit of the Cancer Warriors Foundation. Buy-in is US$150 with a third of the prize pool donated to the non-profit organization.
The rest of the days will see popular side events on the floor such as the Main Event Warm-Up, Head Hunter, Ladies of Poker, Monster Stack, Deep Stack Turbo events, NLH events, and the High Rollers event to mention a few. Since this is the first event of the year, the APT’s newest player incentive will be initiated, the APT Player of the Series, wherein the top three players at the end of each festival will be awarded special prizes. The APT Player of the Year 2017 race is also at its starting line with Japan’s Iori Yogo as the defending champion. All events are point generating. Additionally, all trophy winners and all APT POS winners will qualify into the APT Game of Champions US$10,000 added event. Click here for more information on the APT POY and APT POS.
Hotel Accommodations
For players flying in, Resorts World Manila is directly across the NAIA Terminal 3 airport with a free RWM shuttle at the arrivals level. Other Manila airports are roughly around 15 minutes from the venue. For those needing hotel accommodations, the APT has secured “Special APT Player Only” rates for players attending the APT Kickoff 2017. There are three hotels to choose from, the Marriott Manila, Belmont, and Remington. Rates vary upon hotel.
