APT India Day 1: Jasven Saigal and Anuj Yadav lift first APT trophies; Raghav Chauhan, Nitin Rawat, Shravan Suresh, Prince Vishwakarma win events

The first six events of APT India Online Series 4.0 is now in the bag with opening day games taking flight on Friday, July 1 at PokerBaazi.com. All the winners were first time APT champions. Jasven Saigal and Anuj Yadav clinched the featured events to capture the first APT Trophies on offer. We’ve got all those stories for you including what’s next on the roster.

APT 1: Kickoff 20L GTD – JASVEN SAIGAL – IN₹ 3.6L (~US$ 4,560)

The series stormed out of the gates with the Kickoff 20L GTD attracting a thunderous 741 entries (411 unique, 330 re-entry). This was the largest turnout of opening day. Just over five hours in, the bubble burst on player “Jubin08”, then seconds after, Karan Pantola “Mahadevpoker” fell to Amit Kaushik “quark” with J J over 5 5 to be the first to shave a portion of the bloated IN₹ 22.23 Lac (~US$ 28,163) prize pool. Kaushik went on to reach the final two tables, falling in 16th place. Nearly eight hours from the start, the final table was formed led by Karan Radia “Apocalypto”, Chirag Sodha “miyagi”, and Jasven Saigal “JasvenSaigal” . 

The three went on to crush the competition, taking turns up top to eventually face each other at three-handed. After numerous exchanges and double ups, Saigal bested Radia with A Q pairing both cards to dust J J. The final two quickly reached a deal then played on for the trophy. Chip leader Saigal never relinquished his position and nailed it with Q Q over K 4. Saigal claimed his first ever APT victory and a payout deal of IN₹ 3,60,000 (~US$ 4,560).

APT 4: Friday Major 40L GTD – ANUJ YADAV “brockLesnar95” – IN₹ 7.5L  (~US$ 9,502)

The second APT trophy was awarded at the Friday Major 40L GTD where 424 turned up resulting in a crushing prize pool of IN₹ 42.6 Lac (~US$ 53,970). After an eight hour race, the last two remaining, Anuj Yadav “brockLesnar95” and Shravan Chhabria “FishStars”, opted to deal and flip for the trophy. The bigger stacked Yadav went on to win it to claim his first ever APT win and largest series payout. 

Picking up the action just before the final table, on a board that completed J Q 3 J 6, player “Ab420J Q with a full house delivered a double knockout to Ashish Munot “OMG_spew” 10 9 and Vinayak Bajaj “salmanbhai” A K to bring the field down to 10 players.  Ten minutes later, the final eight was formed with Chirag Sodha “miyagi” eliminating player “alpacino” (9th). Impressively, this was Sodha’s second final table, he would go on to reach another at the Megastack event. Carrying in the chip lead was eventual champion Yadav, his closest challenger was Chhabria, and Sodha in third rank. 

Before both Yadav and Chhabria faced off at heads up, they first collected a couple of heads. Yadav booted “Fideroyc” in 8th place, Chhabria dusted Sodha (6th) plus two players simultaneously “Ab420” (4th) and Arjanveer Singh “holdbaby” (5th) with 4 4 set (hand below). This gave Chhabria over half the chips in play entering 3-handed.

Despite the big lead, the next series of pots were claimed by Yadav who went on to finish off Bhola Sharma “Bhola77” in 3rd place with A 4 dominating K Q. Back on top, Yadav claimed the bigger cut on the deal and the trophy after two quick flips.

APT 2: Megastack 8L GTD – RAGHAV CHAUHAN “Raghav14082” – IN₹ 1.76L (~US$ 2,230)

Raghav Chauhan “raghav14082” outshined at the final table of the Megastack 8L GTD to win his first ever APT event. Chauhan entered the table slashing, quickly eliminating two players to build a hefty stack. On the path to victory, he lost a couple of flips but made up some of it by railing “Ivan2822” in 3rd place. Facing Saransh Garg “saransh004” for the title, Chauhan doubled up on a very lucky A 3 spiking the three against A 10. The hand propelled Chauhan back up top then caught another lucky break to seize the win. Garg was all in with A A, Chauhan had 9 9, a nine dropped on the flop to crack aces and ship it. Sodha finished 8th for his third final table.

3: PLO-6 6L GTD – PRINCE VISHWAKARMA “pritiajaylove” – IN₹ 1.07L (~US$ 1,356)

The lone Pot Limit Omaha event of the day was the PLO-6 6L GTD and it completed in a fast 5+ hours. Out of the 413 entries, the biggest cuts of the IN₹ 6.2 Lac (~US$ 7,855) prize pool were awarded to Prince Vishwakarmapritiajaylove” and “b03307” after a heads up deal. The larger stacked pritiajaylove went on to win it.

APT 5: 7-Max Turbo 12L GTD – NITIN RAWAT “Gambler42” – IN₹ 2,82L (~US$ 3,572)

The 7-Max Turbo 12L GTD drew the second largest crowd of opening day with 597 burning up the online felt. This built a sizable IN₹ 14.93 Lac (~US$ 18,915) prize pool with the top 72 places earning a piece. Despite the turbo pace, the event still clocked in at over 6.5 hours. The final table took one hour with Nitin Rawat “Gambler42” crushing the competition for his first ever APT win. 

After Rawat railed Aditya Singh “konstantin” in 8th place, he entered the final table as chip leader and held command throughout. At five handed, Rawat went on a spree, sending the rest of his opponents packing. He eliminated Anant Purohit “Pro_Pro” (5th) with Q Q dominating 5 5, he cleaned out Harrish Chaudary “Realfc” (4th) with A Q beating A 6, and five minutes later, he outdrew Mukesh Ahuja “Mukeshahuja” A 7 with 8 4 two pair. At heads up, Rawat was ahead 4:1 against Prashant Jain “jainprashant” and finished him off in just one quick hand.

APT 6: KO 10L GTD – SHRAVAN SURESH “Enterthedragon” – IN₹2,27,000 (~US$ 2,876)

The last event of opening day was the KO 10L GTD and this too exceeded its guarantee with 591 entries for a prize pool of IN₹ 11.82 Lac (~US$ 14,975). The battle heated up at three-handed in what was to be one of the lengthiest rounds, running for nearly an hour. Anshul Bagai “Bags05” lost the lead to Shravan Suresh “Enterthedragon” then fell in 3rd place. Suresh quickly finished off  Bibhu Agarwal “Daniel_Ivey” to claim his first ever APT win and a cool IN₹ 2,23,000 plus IN₹ 4K in bounties for a combined score of IN₹ 2,27,000 (~US$ 2,876). The biggest bounty earner was Karan Sitlani “collingwood” who knocked out a whopping 19 players to pocket an additional IN₹ 9.5K to his 6th place earnings.
