APT 2022 Philippines underway, Mystery Bounty flights highlight Day 1

PASAY CITY, Philippines – The Asian Poker Tour (APT) 2022 Philippines is the penultimate staging for the series this year and already a new record has fallen before the cards even flew as a staggering 41 events are on tap in this leg that also has PhP29M (US$505,495) in guaranteed prize pools. The opening (Event #1) Mystery Bounty has commenced at the Grand Wing Casino, Newport World Resorts here.

The 41 events in the calendar is the most in the tour’s history for a live staging, eclipsing the 27 that went down during the APT Summer Festival Hanoi, Vietnam earlier this year and will be the busiest undertaking with some days having up to eight competitions happening simultaneously.

“The APT has always listened to the players and their sentiments on how we can make the tour better,” APT General Manager and Executive Tournament Director Lloyd Fontillas explained. “In this case, the players wanted to have more events so we gave it to them.”

The Mystery Bounty will have two flights, the first of which took flight at 1:00PM (UCT+8) while the second flight happens at 4:00PM.

One of the most anticipated events in any APT series, the Mystery Bounty is unique because once the players reach ITM, it will only be then that the amount of the bounty awarded for every bust-out is revealed by virtue of drawing sealed envelopes containing the prize. In some cases, the bounty prizes won even exceeds the actual cash garnered from the payout in the placing.

PhP2M (US$34,915) is the guaranteed prize pool for this opening salvo.

Korea’s Son Jangwon  emerged victorious in the last Mystery Bounty held here for his first evern live cash.

Capping off the opening day’s hostilities is (Event #2) the Hyper Deep Stack Turbo which begins at 10:00PM.
