Another 17 advance from Main Event Day 1B, Segers prevails in High-Rollers

TAIPEI CITY, Taiwan – From the 140 entries that comprised Day 1B of the Asian Poker our (APT) Taiwan 2022 Main Event, another seventeen are already assured of getting paid in what is shaping up to be a huge guaranteed prize pool with Day 1C being the last bus to the next phase when the action resumes in less than half a day at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club) here.

So far, 278 entries have bloated the guaranteed prize pool to well over NT$4M (US$125,727.00) from the original NT$3M (US$94,295.00) and knowing that there will be no more registration allowed at the onset of Day 2, the forecast for the upcoming Day 1C is that this place–at the very least–will be crowded and at most could have the word “alternates” come into play.

Unlike Day 1A, however, the Money Bubble of Day 1B was breached before 2:00AM with Ping Hsiao Luan having the misfortune of being outdrawn in a Blind vs. Blind situation versus Ching Wei Chen, with Ping ahead preflop with A 9 figured against his opponent’s live cards of K Q

The board instantly put Ping behind when it came out: Q 7 5. Needing to catch an Ace, the Turn was the 8 giving a sweat moment with a backdoor Gut Shot. But then the 10 on the River sealed matters.

Ping Hsiao Luan got outdrawn and began the official Bubble Boy of Day 1B

Guan Sun Chen attained the chip-lead at the end of the session with 655,000 making him the new overall leader. eclipsing the 579,000 garnered by Wu Hao Kai in Day 1A. Second place in Day 1B went to Kuo Li Wei with 386,000 while Chang Yu Chung was third with 354,000.

Day 1C is at 1:00PM (UCT+8).

Meanwhile, Kristof Segers of Bulgaria found a creative way to spend his wait for Day 2: join and win (Event #7) the second of the NT$27k (US$850.00) single-day High-Rollers.

Kristof Segers (BUL) took down his second APT title by winning the NT$27k High-Rollers event

Segers, who is already going to be among those seeing action on Sunday (2nd October) picked up his second APT title after triumphing in the 2019 Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) event also here in Taipei.

Three more side events take centerstage later with (Event #8) the single-day NLH, (Event #9) the third of the NT$27k (US$850.00) single-day High-Rollers and the much-awaited (Event #10) Deep Stack Turbo (DST).
