All you need to know on the Championships Event

With the APT Macau Championships 2018 now in full swing at Macau Billionaire Poker in Babylon Casino and the Main Event soon to crown a victor, it’s time to prep for the Championships Event. This event is one of the most prestigious No Limit Hold’em tournaments hosted by the APT, offering the best structure in the region. In addition to a slew of prizes, the winner will receive the exclusive APT Championship Ring.

The Championships Event fills up the last five days of the festival, running from May 2 – May 6. With its higher buy-in of HKD 22,000, the field is usually tighter than the main with pros filling up the seats. Schedule below:

  • Day 1A: Wednesday, May 2  @ 13:00
  • Day 1B: Thursday, May 3   @ 13:00
  • Day 2: Friday, May 4  @ 13:00
  • Day 3: Saturday, May 5  @ 13:00
  • Final 8: Sunday, May 6  @ 13:30**

Some facts to know:

  • The tournament runs a total of five days
  • Day 1A, Day 1B, and Day 2 all play 8 rounds
  • Blinds increase every 60 minutes
  • Late registration closes at the start of Level 10 in Day 2
  • Day 3 plays until the Final 8 is reached
  • Bubble Protection in effect (read below) 

Bubble Protection

For those new to the Bubble Protection, this is the APT’s early bird incentive for players of the Championships Event. Players that have qualified for the protection will be insured during the bubble round. In the event a protected player falls as the bubble, then that player will receive a consolation prize of one free seat to the next APT Main Event of the same value or its equivalent in APT tournament credits.

Here are 3 simple steps to be eligible for Bubble Protection:

  1. Pre-Register
  2. Draw for your seat before starting time
  3. Have your chips put into play on the first deal of round 1

*Important note: For re-entry players, if you have already met the qualifications for Bubble Protection, you will maintain that status only on a same day re-entry. For re-entry players wanting Bubble Protection on the next starting day, you will have to repeat the steps above. This also applies to players going for multiple stacks.
