3 Vietnam players atop the early Player of the Series standings

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam – The initial standings of the Player of the Series has just been released and the top three are occupied by the triumvirate that topped the Warm-Up (Event #1) with champion Phan Huu Binh Tri snaring the early overall lead at the Saigon Poker Club here.

Phan, who bested a record 439 entries on his way to the title, has a total of 696.51 points while the other podium finishers in second placer Ha Tuan Dung and Nguyen Duc Bao, the third placer, attained 667.94 and 625.10 respectively.

From the mechanics of determining the points acquired in the Player of the Series, winning a multiple-day opening event (along with a Monster Stack and NLH/Omaha High-Rollers) gives a player 120 points but the depth of the field is also considered. Finishing ITM in any event awards points to an individual. These points are accumulated and the Player of the Series will be known at the end of the competition.

Winners of the Main Event or a Championship Event get the maximum of 150 points.

So, it does not guarantee that winning a major event in the series assures Player of the Series honors.

Presently ranked fourth to sixth are a phalanx of Koreans led by 2-Day NLH runner-up Roh Huynseb (459.52) who outpointed the titlist in the same event, Oh Chumin (452.54), by finishing deeper in the Warm-Up. Event #6 (Single-Day High-Rollers) winner Lee Seongmin has 412.50.
