18 players battle for a final table berth; Guen and Cui win trophies

With everyone now in the money, day 3 of the Asian Poker Tour Cebu 2016 Main Event will have the remaining 18 players return to the felt to battle it out for a berth to the Final 8.

Entering day 3 as the chip leader is Denmark’s Michael Kim Falcon with a dominating stack of 397,500. Coming in second is Filipino player JC Sayo with 270,500 chips. In third is UK’s Alex Ward with 242,000 chips, then Korea’s John Kim in fourth with 229,500, and Filipino pro Lester Edoc rounding out the top five with 226,000 chips.

Other notables also returning today are previous APT Main Event champions, Lim Yah Loon from Singapore and Filipino Mike Takayama. Both players hold quite a big difference in stacks with Loon above average of 177,500 chips and Takayama bringing up the rear with 32,000 chips.

Side Events Today

There are two side events on the roster today, the Monster Stack at 2pm with a PP27,500 entry fee. This is scheduled to be a 2-day event. Then at 6pm , the MSW Deep Stack Turbo event. Buy-in is P5,500.

Pot Limit Omaha Hi

Pot Limit Omaha Hi Champion, Jang Geun Ji

The Pot Limit Omaha Hi event saw 47 players pony up the P11,000 entry fee creating a prize pool of P455,900. The tournament lasted into the witching hour with APT newcomer, Ji Jang Geun from Korea, besting fellow countryman and APT regular, Jae Chul Chang, for the trophy.

WLS Deep Stack Turbo Champion, Bing Cui

The highly popular WeLoveSport.com Deep Stack Turbo had 142 entries for a prize pool of P688,700. With this big of a field, 18 players saw a profit with China’s Bing Cui taking the largest of the cash pie of P175,900 after defeating Japan’s Masahiro Marumoto at the heads up round for the trophy.
