Peter Chien wins first Asian title at WeLoveSport Super Deep Stack Turbo
74 hit the felt running in full throttle at the WeLoveSport Super Deep Stack Turbo. Each one put up the NT$ 7,700 buy-in in hopes of earning the largest piece of the NT$ 502,500 prize pool. When it reached the bubble round, it stayed on rapid pace with the money reached in just two hands.
On a flop 4♦ 4♣ 7♦ 6♣, one player risked it all with A♥ 7♣ top pair only to feel the hurt upon seeing Ben Lai‘s J♥. The river J♦ further improved Lai to a boat. Lai eventually fell in 10th place to miss the final table by one spot.
Action resumed with players tumbling in succession. At seven-handed Yank Kyung Suk won a three-way with A♠ A♥ set over K♣ Q♣ and 10♦ 9♦. He jumped ahead with 6 remaining. At this point, Peter Chien went on a rush knocking out Kelvin Beattie (6th), Zhou Yueyang (4th), and Yang in 3rd place with 10♦ 10♥ holding against A-3 offsuit. Chien faced Po Cheng Yan at heads up.
After several hands, Po edged Chien then crashed on a showdown with 10♦ 10♠ outdrawn by A♦ K♠ when an ace showed up on the river. This severely crippled Po to soon send him out in 2nd place immediately after. Chien shipped the NT$ 139,100 (~US$ 4,500) first prize and his first-ever title on Asian soil.
