HomeFull speed ahead! The Asian Poker Tour’s first event of the calendar year, the APT Kickoff 2016 will have cards flying at the felt today. This nine-day poker festival will run from Wednesday, January 13 until Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the APT Poker Room in the Waterfront Manila Pavilion Hotel and Casino. And we have a lot in store for you: a total of 19 events, the APT Kickoff Main Event, plus new additions to bring the level of poker enjoyment to even greater heights.
Spearheading the festival is the highly popular Welcome Event P1,000,000 Guaranteed. This two-day event will hold both of its qualifying flights today, one at 1pm and the other at 5pm. Following that is a newcomer to the APT roster, the Pot Limit Omaha High Rollers event. This is also a two-day event with a P55,000 buy-in fee.
The Battle of the Nations tag-team event, which made its debut appearance at the APT Finale last December, is back on deck and with a slightly revamped format. The Ante Up for Charity is another enjoyable event to look forward to with proceeds going to the “Feed a Child, Build a Nation” Program of RCMN. The APT Kickoff Main Event will begin on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 1pm. Buy-in is P55,000. Unlike previous Main Events, this year marks the beginning of something truly exciting and very unique. The APT will be awarding its first-ever APT Championship Ring! In addition, the APT will put into effect a Main Event Bubble Protection. See here for all the details.
On Wednesday, January 20, 2016, another new tournament will grace the felt, the High Rollers event with a P108,000 entry fee. This is a scheduled two-day event.
With all these exciting events and more on the schedule, the APT Player of the Year 2016 race will see lots of points being accrued. The Battle of the Nations is excluded from the points system. With the APT POY race getting a makeover this year, a total of $20,000 worth of APT prizes is up for grabs. These prizes will be distributed accordingly to APT POY 2016 top-ranked players of various categories at the end of the year.
