Modified APT Pay Table Boosts Top Tier Finishers

At the start of the year, the Asian Poker Tour (APT) introduced a new payout table referred to as the “1 for 6” scheme. To best explain it, as soon as One (1) entry went above Six (6) entries a pay spot was created with the aim to reward more players in a tournament.

With the first quarter now over, the innovative idea of paying deeper sparked discussions within the arena of APT players. The comments were split – a good number loved the fact that the chance of cashing in an event increased along with profitability when finishing outside of the top 3 spots compared to previous APT events. While on the other hand, some players disagreed and felt the value of joining an APT event lessened because the dream of making a huge score was no longer there.

“One of our (APT) aims is to create ways to better our offerings with the best interest of players in mind – this is how the “1 for 6” scheme came to be. Now, more money goes to the top spots with a parameter of the champion receiving eight times of 8th place (Top prize = 8th place prize x 8). So meeting in the middle with players on this one is one of the many things we have done to make APT better because of the players,” stated APT Tournament Director and General Manager Lloyd Fontillas.

The modified “1 for 6” pay scheme will be applied starting with the upcoming APT Korea-Seoul 2018
