Welcome to Main Event Day 2! Last chance to enter; Tran Huy Hoang wins NLH Single Day

After three starting days, the APT Vietnam Hanoi Loyal 2022 – MAIN EVENT – enters Day 2 at the Grand Loyal Poker Club. The headliner drew a smashing 390 total entries to see the prize pool surge over VN₫ 7 Billion. That’s well over the VN₫ 5 BN guarantee and it is expected to increase further with two hours of late registration available. Cards start flying at 12 noon which means registration will close at exactly 14:10. For all you railbirds, fence-sitters, and weekend warriors, this is your last chance to get in on this massive brewing pot.

Side Events

Tran Huy Hoang wins the No Limit Hold’em Single Day

While Main Event Day 1C was buzzing a large portion of the ballroom, the first installment of the No Limit Hold’em Single Day event filled up the remaining space. 64 entered for a prize pool of  VN₫ 434,6560,000. After eight and a half hours of play, Vietnam’s Tran Huy Hoang emerged victorious to bank the VN₫ 125,420,000 (~US$ 5,410) first prize and his first ever APT lion trophy.

As the bubbled approached, Thai player Sirisilp Chotvijit amassed a monstrous stack and eventual champion Tran Huy Hoang was running second rank. During the bubble round several short stacks survived the shoves with double ups, including Singapore’s Norbert Koh who sent a player plunging to just one chip. The final table was formed with both Chotvijit and Tran still in command.

On the way to heads up, action was fierce with the final eight trimmed to half in less than an hour. At this point Tran and Nguyen Phuong Ngoc began to exert dominance leading to the fall of the remaining Thailand players and a local showdown for the trophy. Tran entered with a slight chip advantage and never relinquished. On a board J Q 3 7, Nguyen faced a raise for his tournament life. After spending two time banks, he called with 8 8 which was sorely behind Tran’s K J. The river Q completed the board for a higher two pair victory to Tran.
