TAIPEI CITY, Taiwan – It’s down to two-time APT winner Wen Fang Po and online whiz kid Zhan Shuo Guo in the Heads-Up duel for the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Taiwan 2022 Main Event title at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club) here.
The most active players at the Final Table set up an interesting clash as both are aggressive with VPIPs off the charts.
During 4-handed play, a deal was reached by the quartet; splitting the total remaining prize pool to four equal parts of NT$837,500.00 (US$26,332.00) and leave NT$201,600.00 (US$6,338.00) to be contested–along, of course, with the trophy.
Recapping the action leading up to this duel, Feng Wen Chen was shown the door when he 3-bet AIPF against Vietnam’s Nguyen Van Dai who quickly called the shove.
Feng tabled 6♦ 6♥ while Nguyen showed he was way ahead with J♦ J♣.
The Flop came 8♥ 7♠ 3♣ but then the Turn card was the the 5♥ giving Feng a backdoor Open-Ended Straight Draw. However, the excitement was all for naught as the Q♥ arrived on the River eliminating the crafty veteran at fourth place.
At this point, Nguyen was second in chips to Zhan but a series of unfortunate decisions and bad rolls led him to drop to a mere 5 BBs, which he eventually doubled-up but then ran into Zhan’s A♣ K♥ when he pushed all-in with A♠ 5♥.
No help came on the board of: Q♥ J♣ 4♠ 8♣ 9♣ and now the showdown for the crown begins.
It is now Level 30 (Blinds at 60,000/120,000 with BB Ante 120,000). Zhan is in the lead with 7.9 million in chips against 4.7 million for Wen.
Good luck to both players!
