After five days of competition at the APT Main Event, standing tall – both physically and figuratively – was champion Tsang Dicky Siu Hang. This was Hang’s first-ever major live victory. He was awarded the APT Main Event Golden Lion Trophy, the APT Championship Ring, and his largest live career score worth KRW 59,485,000 (~USD 49,300).
The Main Event drew a series record 236 entrants to Paradise City Casino for a guarantee smashing prize pool of KRW 274,704,00 (~USD 226,300). The money bubble burst on Day 3 which then wrapped up with the final 8 players returning today.
The race to victory began with hot-handed Japanese player Haruta Koichi (seat 5) sporting an enormous stack. Haruta topped Day 2 and Day 3 to enter the final 8 round with 134 times the opening big blind. Wedged in the middle of the finalists was eventual winner Tsang Dicky Siu Hang (seat 7), the last player from Hong Kong in the field.
As the table crunched down to the heads up round, Haruta’s towers were brought down to earth with Tsang carrying in the larger stack. Both players struck an ICM deal that guaranteed the following:
Tsang: KRW 56,128,000
Haruta: KRW 52,420,000
That left KRW 3,357,000 and the title up for battle. In the end, Tsang prevailed. The final hand was Tsang’s A♣ K♣ staying ahead of Haruta’s A♦ J♦ on a board that saw a king grace the flop.
Despite Haruta settling for 2nd place he did surpass his previous deepest APT Main Event 5th place finish at the tour’s recent Seoul stop. For his achievement today, he was also awarded a trophy and pocketed his largest live earning of KRW 52,420,000 (~USD 43,400).
Another player with an impressive finish was Russia’s Eduard Pak who drove his stack from one of the lowest entering the day to third place.
Congratulations to Tsang Dicky Siu Hang for his big victory!
And the prizes continue for the champ. In addition to his triumph, Tsang also won the Dafabet APT Survivor promo. As the last man standing wearing the Dafabet patch, he won a Main Event seat to APT Philippines 2019 taking place in September.
