The first major tournament of the APT Championships Philippines 2017 begins today, the USD 1,100 buy-in Main Event! For the next five days, the Main Event takes center stage with Day 1A kicking off at 1pm here at Resorts World Manila. Only two starting days are offered with Day 1B on the floor tomorrow.
There are many great reasons why everyone should join this big event. For starters, the APT has long been known for the best structures offered in the region and the Main Event clearly represents that.
Starting stack: 25,000 (500x starting big blind)
Blind duration: 60 minutes
Late registration: closes at the start of round 7
In addition, the eventual champion will be awarded the APT Championship Trophy and the exclusive APT Championship Ring. This special silver band is only awarded to Main Event champions. This year has seen Japanese players Takumi Samejima and Katsuhiro Muto champion this event.
Main Event Bubble Protection
We highly suggest for players to come early, pre-register, pay, and have their chips in play by the first deal of round one. By doing so, you will be eligible for bubble protection. This is one of the most powerful incentives to have just in case you find yourself short-stacked during the bubble round. In the event a player with bubble protection finishes as the unfortunate bubble, then that player will receive a consolation prize of one free seat to the next APT Main Event of the same value. So no need to leave empty-handed!
Last Chance “1 in 5” Main Event Mega Satellite
We have already awarded 20 seats via the Main Event Mega Satellite and at 5pm today, the last satellite to the Main Event will take place. Buy-in is USD 240 with one seat awarded for every 5 players .
SNG Special Event: APT Team versus PokerFishS Team
In the evening, a special event will be taking place at 930pm with APT’s proud sponsors, PokerFishS, hosting a winner-take-all SNG. Four top players from APT will be competing against four players from the PokerFishS team. Confirmed for the APT are Samad Razavi, Iori Yogo, Lester Edoc, and Lim Yo Hwan. The PokerFishS team will field Liu Zongxin, Lynn Huang, Ada Chen, and Jaden Wang. The eventual winner will take home USD 2,400.
This event will be televised both in English and in Chinese. For the English commentary, you can catch the action in the APT Twitch channel. For the Chinese commentary, you can view it at several sites: Panda, Douyu, Zhangyu, Pukemi, Huya, Zhanqi, Quanmin, and Zhibo.
Today’s Side Events
While the Main Event is underway, there are a couple of other games also happening on the tournament floor. At 2pm, there will be an Open Face Chinese Pineapple Progressive. Buy-in is USD 330. This is the first of two OFCP events offered at the ongoing festival. The Head Hunter event also resumes with the Final 8 players returning to the felt and gunning for every head to bag the USD 13,620 first prize.
