Have you ever played in a tournament where a player grabbed a stack of their chips and motioned them forward into the middle of the table but instead checks to you? Or you are in a tournament that puts a betting line into play and a player thinks forever and finally slides out chips only to stop right before the betting line and then checks? Sometimes a player will even take a bunch of chips and cut out only a few in the middle while retracting the rest. Angle shooting can come in many forms with forward motion.
That is why the APT enforces the forward motion rule and don’t have betting lines at any of its events. If you don’t want to bet all the chips in your hand or stack that has undergone a forward motion then don’t do it. You could end up facing a ruling where another player or the dealer contests your action. Those chips will stay in the pot 100% of the time!
So, for those of you that like to cut out your chips when making a bet or raise, or that like grab and shuffle your chips when facing action, please do it behind your cards and not in a forward motion. This will avoid you losing chips you are not willing to part with.
For any questions regarding this tip please feel free to email APT customer support at info@theasianpokertour.com and your inquiry will be directed to the APT Tournament Director Lloyd Fontillas.
