The APT’s Main Event Satellite rule states that “All seat/s won through satellites hosted by the Asian Poker Tour are non-transferable and must be played on the specified date, if allocated. In the event that a player wins more than enough seats for the allowed starting days or qualifies through the FIRST starting day, cash will be awarded for the remaining seat/s.”
This rule was implemented because we at the APT believe that satellites are made to give players that can’t afford to play in the Main Event a chance to get into it for a fraction of the cost. Therefore, players that think that satellite players are weaker players because of their smaller bankroll are not able to treat them as a way to make easy money. This also increases the prize pool by preventing players from buying a seat from satellite winners at a cheaper price.
In addition, satellite winners that qualify to the next day of play holding another seat will be reimbursed the full price of the Main Event seat as opposed to having the player sell the seat at a discount.
We understand that many players may be staked their buy-in to a satellite by other players. So, those of you that are, keep in mind that you were backed for a reason and if you happen to win a seat it makes sense that you work out a deal with your backer that includes a cashing in the Main Event.
So, good luck to you all and see you at the next APT Main Event!
