Tae Hoon Han bags overall Main Event chip lead; one last hour to enter in Day 2; Chip counts; Chang Wenchen wins side trophy

With the KRW 180 Million guaranteed prize pool on everyone’s mind, APT Korea Seoul 2019 saw a buzzing poker room at Grand Walkerhill Paradise Casino. 103 runners poured in for the last starting day of the Main Event. Combine this with the 56 of Day 1A for a total of 159 Main Event entries so far. Late-comers still have a chance to get in on this juicy pot with one final hour left to sign up at tomorrow’s Day 2. Day 1B review

At the end of the scheduled eight rounds, the Day 1B field trimmed to 65 players led by New Zealand’s Tae Hoon Han with 117,900 in chips. Han was the only player in this heat to cross into the six-digit marker.  His stack was also enough to surpass Day 1A leader USA’s John Kim (107,500) to claim the overall chip lead entering Day 2.

Other notable players advancing from Day 1B were: Yoichi Uesugi, Ken Okada, Edward Yam Chun Ho, Yuri Ishida, Daiki Horikawa, and APT decorated champion Takumi Samejima. Samejima bagged a healthy stack of 86,700.

Side Event results

Only one side event ran alongside the main, the No Limit Hold’em Single Day #1 attracted 46 runners and at KRW 440,00 each, it created a prize pool of KRW 17,848,000. Eight players pocketed a share. Earning the largest on a three-way deal was Russia’s Eduard Pak for KRW 4,123,000, however winning the title and the APT Golden Lion trophy was Taiwan’s Chang Wenchen. Chang also earned KRW 3,919,000 for his victory.
