A thunderous day at APT Vietnam 2019 with Day 2 of the MAIN EVENT filling every seat in the house. The day began with 182 returnees out of the 389 entries of the Day 1 heats. With registration open for one more hour, another 47 signed up to bring the total tally to 436. At the close of day, only 52 survived the challenge. While many bagged up stacks well over average, it was Sweden’s Sofia Lovgren who amassed the largest of 567,000.

One of the biggest pots Lovgren claimed was during the last level of play. With blinds at 2k – 4k ante 4k, she raised to 10k from the button and big blind Jiang Yong Bo called. At the flop 9♦ 7♣ 6♥, it was action-packed. Bo checked, Lovgren bet 10k, Bo raised to 30k, Lovgren three-bet to 60k, Bo jammed, and was snap-called. Bo had 7♥ 7♠ set, Lovgren 8♥ 5♣ straight, the turn A♥ and river K♠ didn’t help Bo to send all his chips to Lovgren.
The only other player to join Lovgren in the half mil range was India’s Akshay Nasa. Nasa had a superb run bringing his 13,100 starting stack to second rank. Nasa’s first big pot was the elimination of Yang Peng with A-K over Q-10. During the last level of play, he denied two more players to eventually close the day with 504,000.
While Lovgren and Nasa enjoyed their rise to the top, the day was also kind to several players. Huynh Duc Tai climbed from 14th rank at the start to 3rd rank at the close with 470,500. Like Nasa, Aigars Plivcs brought his starting 26,000 stack to a very hefty 447,500.
Also causing a ruckus by knocking out several players were Hwang Seongil (KMGM), Choi Eng Loong, and Vincent Chauve. Only one APT decorated Main Event champion advanced, Korea’s Soo Jo Kim with 191,000. Chip counts are found below the page or via the link provided.
