TAIPEI CITY, Taiwan – The Main Event of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Taiwan 2022 was the primary focus of today’s festivities but there were three side events that also played out and three more champions walked away with an APT trophy and cash here at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club).
Event #14 – NT$4,600.00 (US$145.00) Pot Limit Omaha (PLO)
The first PLO session here was taken down by local bet Zhang Yu Xuan for NT$82,000.00 (US$2,579.00) after besting a field of 79 entries. For the second time two days, Kai Lin Wei finished second–this time for NT$54,600.00 (US$1,717.00) while third place went to Wu Chia Yun for NT$38,200.00 (US$1,201.00).
Event #15 – NT$27k (US$850.00) single-day High-Rollers
In this fourth staging of this series, Chang Yu Chung picked up his second APT High-Rollers title to follow up his victory in the 2021 NT$86K edition. Chang, who has made inroads in Macau, Cambodia and even in the WSOP, outlasted 25 entrants and had to defeat the crafty Terry Sua of Malaysia for the win.
Chang received the top prize of NT$256,200.00 (US$8,056.00) while Sua got NT$149,100.00 (US$4,689.00) for finishing as the runner-up. Chen Sin Ren cashes anew at third place for NT$93,400.00 (US$2,937.00).
Event #16 – NT$3,400.00 (US$107.00) Deep Stack Turbo (DST)
Always a popular event due its dynamism, this one went to Yu Kai Wang after prevailing over Belgian veteran Kristof Segers. Yu also won the NT$58,800.00 (US$1,850.00) top prize while Segers this time had to settle for the NT$39,100.00 (US$1,230.00) second place payout. Finishing third was Hu Yu Cheng for NT$27,300.00 (US$858.00).
Now that the dust is settling from the reverting Main Event, all focus will now be on the remaining tiffs including (Event #17) the NT$43k (US$1,352.00) two-day High-Roller and (Event #18) the much-awaited Monster Stack which will have Day 1 Flights; the first at 2:00PM (UCT+8) and the second at 6:00PM.
