Closing out the third day of the ongoing APT Kickoff 2019 Vietnam were another set of side event champions: Ray Chiu, Chung Yin Chan and Alex Okruzhnoy. These players each won one of the wicked new Asian Poker Tour trophies at Pro Poker Club. We’ve got highlights for you below.
Bounty Hunter Ray Chiu bags first-ever APT title
One of the most popular events of the tour is the Head Hunter tournament and this one was sponsored by online betting giant Dafabet. The event ran for two days. Starting day saw 113 entries shake up the tournament floor until the lights went out causing the last 14 players to bag up using their cellphones.
Returning today, action resumed in turbo speed and so did the bust outs. The final 8 was formed within the hour.
Several hours later, Hong Kong pro Ray Chiu shut the door on Singaporean pro Norbert Koh to capture his first-ever APT title. Chiu also delivered the bubble on the previous day with pocket jacks over a player’s A-3 that missed. For his victory he shipped VND 163,625,000 and another VND 12,000,000 bounty reward.
For everyone that missed it, the final 8 players streamed live in our media channels APT Twitch and APT YouTube. Relive the action and watch how it all unfolded. The VND 8.8M buy-in Head Hunter event saw 19 players shave a slice of the VND 650,880,000 (~USD 28,000). You can find the full results in the link below.

Chung Yin Chan wins the High Rollers Single Day
A nice and healthy turnout for the High Rollers Single Day event with 34 players and 8 re-entries. That brought it to 42 total, each one coughing up the VND 43,000,000 buy-in for a prize pool of VND 1,629,600 (~USD 70,200). Only 7 players gained shares of this pot with the largest awarded to Chung Yin Chan for his victory. This is the second title for Hong Kong and both in the same day.
Recapping a bit of the action from the extremely long bubble round, Alan King Lun Lau finally ended it by knocking out a player with jacks over a desperate A-4 offsuit.
When action resumed, two short-stacked Vietnamese quickly fell, Nguyen Van Phinh (6th) and Nguyen Hoa Thinh (5th). Finishing 4th was the Monster Stack champion, Michael Kim Falcon. Falcon currently leads the APT Player of the Series race and his deep run here will likely keep him in pole position.
Lau was out next in 3rd place leaving Vietnamese pro Linh Tran against Chan. Chan held a sizable lead at the start which Tran simply could not penetrate. Chan grinded down the local pro and closed it out with a flush over a straight.

Clutch victory for Alex Okruzhnoy at the NLH Single Day
93 entrants of the NLH Single Day event heated up a section of the room but quickly downsized due to the implemented shot clock. Coming from behind at heads up was Russia’s Alex Okruzhnoy defeating Vietnam’s Dinh Gia Long to claim the title, the awesome new APT trophy, and VND 120,000,000.
The event paid out 16 players out of the VND 541,260,000. The top two players struck a deal that paid out Long VND 117,258. Vietnamese pros Julien Tran and Nguyen Duc Bien also reached the final table.
APT Player of the Series
The APT Player of the Series race is already underway with Michael Kim Falcon setting the pace. Falcon won the opening Monster Stack event and cashed at the High Rollers Single Day. With another three events earning players points, more names have entered the race.
