After four days of Main Event action at the Asian Poker Tour Philippines 2016 II, we are down to the Final 8 at Resorts World Manila in Newport City, Philippines. There were a total of 114 entries for the Main Event, each one ponying up the US$2,200 entry fee for total prize pool amounting to US$221,200. Players will be looking to seize the first place purse of US$56,600, the APT Championship Trophy, and the APT Championship Ring.
The Final 8 will be led by two Japanese players, Shinichiro Tone and Aso Seitaro. Tone cradles a monstrous stack of 2.105M chips while Seitaro enters with 976k chips. Guam’s Annie Bordallo is in third position with 900k. This is Bordallo’s furthest run so far at an APT Main Event having placed 15th back in May 2015. Canada’s Linh Tran is in the fourth spot with 686k chips. Tran is the only player in the Final 8 who has an APT Main Event championship title. He also has two 4th place finishes.
Heading up the bottom four of the chip count is Korea’s Lim Yohwan aka Boxer with 427k chips. Lim’s deepest APT Main Event run was a 12th place finish back in May 2016. Lim entered Day 3 with a very short stack but earned his spot today in the Final 8 by eliminating three players. India’s Vikram Kumar is in 6th position, playing in his first APT Main Event final table. Kumar is one of the Spartan Poker satellite winners but had to re-enter after busting out in Day 1a. His second attempt proved to be much more successful as he sits here today as one of the toughest contenders with 362k chips. Filipino player Kim Enriquez is a regular at the APT and has finally gotten a final table berth with 137k chips. His deepest run was a 9th place finish, just one spot shy of the official final table. Bringing up the rear is Korea’s Ki Nam Kim who has been battling hard to get out of the short stack range since yesterday. He enters with 94k chips.
The Final 8 will be featured on the RFID table which means you can watch all the action from wherever you are on Twitch.tv. There will be a 30-minute delay. Live updates will also be posted in the Live Reporting section of the website. You can also watch the action live by heading to Resorts World Manila. The Final 8 will begin promptly at 130pm.
