Pete Yen Han Chen ships the High Rollers

The High Rollers event resumed today with 13 players out of the 37 entrants back in action. With buy-in at NT$ 88,000 (~US$ 2,900), it built a sweet prize pool of NT$ 2,871,200 (~US$ 94,000). Only 7 stood to profit. Pete Yen Han Chen dominated Vincent Kwun Ngai Li at heads up to earn the title and NT$ 864,800 (~US$ 28,400).

The final day unkind to chip leader Choi Eng Loong who dropped out two spots from the dough. Vincent Li eliminated Chi Chu Jen on the bubble with K K in full command over A 9. With money guaranteed, it was a race for the fattest wad. Natalie Teh lost a chunk to Pete Yen Han Chen on a failed river bluff bet with 5-7 on a board 2-3-4-2-J. Chen called with A-10. Next hand, Teh fell to Peter Chien with K 10 top pair to Chien’s pocket fours turned set.

Chen burned Alex Lindop‘s K-J out in 6th place with A 8 on a board Q K 9 A A. Michael Soyza nearly hit the rail next. He lost two weighty pots to bring his stack well below par. However, a double up through Chen with Q 2 improving to a full house kept him in the game. On the flip side, Chan Tsun Ming wasn’t so fortunate. he paid a double up to Vincent Li with A 7 holding against Chan’s K 9. Down to 2 bbs, Li took the rest of it. Not long after, Soyza bowed out next to bring the table down to 3 players.

Chien suffers two big hits

At three-handed, Li doubled up through big stacked Chien. From sb Li shoved with A A, bb Chien called and lost with Q J. Next hand, Chien paid again, this time much costlier. Limping in from sb, bb Chen checked, the flop came J 4 6. After heavy betting back and forth, Chen shoved J 9 top pair and Chien called with 6 4 two pair. When the turn and river came 8 and 8, Chen improved to a higher two pair to crush Chien’s hand and send him down to bottom rank. Chien was eliminated on his third loss with A Q outdrawn by Li’s A 9 with a nine finding the board.

Heads up

Chen and Li agreed on an ICM deal leaving 5% and the trophy to fight for. Chen was ahead in chips and widened the gap by winning two big opening pots. Li managed to double up raising all in with Q 8 on a flop 8 8 6. Chen called with 7 7. The turn was 9 and river 3.

Chen reclaimed the lost chips and more by shipping a big pot with K J on a board 8 4 K 3 6. Li had 3 2. Chen continued to drain Li and won the rest of it with K 10 pairing the king on the turn to overtake Li’s A 4
