APT Finale Taiwan 2019 opened today at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club) with the ever-so-popular Monster Stack event. Though the day started slow, it ended strong. 152 turned up at NT$ 16,500 each for a prize pool of NT$ 2,211,600 (~US$ 72,500).
After 16 rounds of action with levels increasing every 30 minutes, the day wrapped up with 39 players. Korea’s Keon Yong Ma stacked up 399,000 to enter the final day as the overwhelming chip leader. His closest challenger was Choi Eng Loong with 260,500. During the last hands called, Keon claimed a heavy pot with A? K? over a player’s K♦ K♥ when an ace showed up on the river.
When they return for the final race on Friday, November 29 at 1pm, their goal is the NT$ 515,100 (~US$ 16,900) first prize. The winner will also set the bar for the APT Player of the Series race. Only the top 26 places get paid.
