Event recap
The Mystery Bounty Deep Stack Turbo was the third side event of the inaugural APT Mystery Bounty Weekend which took place at partner / host venue Resorts World Manila. Two hours of registration pulled in 46 entries at PHP 6,600 each for a prize pool of PHP 267,700. From that pot, PHP 92,000 went to the five bounty rewards.
A quick four and a half hours in, the final table was set with seven players on the feature table. As blinds escalated, Grace Takayama eliminated Kendrick Tan then the bubble burst when Lawrence cleaned out short stacked Ferdinand Apas with K♥ K♦ full house over A♦ 8♥ two pair on a board A♥ 7♠ 2♥ K♣ 7♦.
Takayama earned her second final table bust by booting the ailing Scott Alm (5th). By doing so, she became the first player to draw for a mystery bounty reward. To her dismay, she pulled the PHP 8,900 card instead of the coveted PHP 41,600. Next showdown, Lawrence landed another full house, this time through Steve Chua with A♠ K♦ over 9♦ 9♥ on a board 6♣ K♣ A♥ A♦ K♥. Down in chips, Chua met his end at the hands of Takayama to award her another mystery bounty ticket. Second chance to draw the big one, she missed again but still pulled better than previous worth PHP 13,500. Gerry Flores followed out in 3rd place with Lawrence earning his first mystery bounty ticket which he turned into PHP 6,200. With two players remaining, that meant the champion was guaranteed to scoop up the top two bounty rewards – PHP 41,600 and PHP 21,800.
Heads up proceeded with Takayama leading 2:1. Amid an excited rail, Lawrence burned their hopes with his A♣ J♥ beating Takayama’s A♥ 5♣ for a double up and the chip lead. Despite Takayama’s efforts, Lawrence kept his lead intact. On their final all in, Lawrence A♣ J♦ dominated Takayama’s A♥ 2♣ to claim the title, trophy, PHP 75,100 first prize and PHP 69,600 in bounties for a total of PHP 144,700.
Congratulations to Neil Lawrence!!
