TAIPEI CITY, Taiwan – Coming back with a vengeance has allegedly been a recurring theme in all the stops of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) this year with massive turnouts in Vietnam, the Philippines and now in this country as exemplified by the tremendous influx of players across all events. The same can now be said about (Event #18) the NT$8,500.00 (US$268.00) Monster Stack as a multitude of entries flooded this highly popular tourney here at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club).
At the close of Flight A‘s registration, 119 entries were tallied which more than doubled the total attendance this event had in its 2021 incarnation with only 47.
Many will argue that the lower buy-in directly contributed to this astonishing turnaround, but the fervor in which the locals have come to take part here could be a direct link to the sport’s rebirth in this island nation and the passion of its players to excel where the likes of James Chen, Pete Chen and erstwhile Main Event champion Kitty Kuo have done so globally. Players arrive in throngs at is a clear indication that the APT’s impact on the region has also been felt here.
The numbers put up in Flight A means that only fifteen more players are needed in the ongoing “Turbo” Flight B to hit the guaranteed prize pool of NT$1M (US$315,610.00).
As of this writing, seventeen have already registered so the guarantee has been reached and it’s all gravy from here.
Day 2 will be tomorrow (5th October) starting 1:00PM (UCT+8).
