Main Event Day 2 review

Day 2 of the Main Event opened with 137 players out of 336 total starting day entries back in action. With registration open for one final hour, 42 took advantage to bring the total entries to 378 and the prize pool to an even larger VN₫ 5,499,900,000 (~US$ 240,160). The plan of the day was to play 8 rounds of 60 minutes each.

Midway through, Ngo Minh Tien knocked out two players simultaneously to become the first player to reach 400k. As the field downsized further, Ngoc Anh Cao and Huynh Ngoc Cuong joined the ranks. Cao claimed all of Artem Fedula‘s chips with a flush crushing top pair. For Cuong, he earned his big stack when he railed Terry Nguyen holding pocket kings over A-K.

During the last level, Hue Dang defended her big blind against Thomas Lind‘s button raise and turned her 2 6 hole cards into a winning trips. She skyrocketed to 580k then added more before bagging time to earn the chip leader status.

At Table 4, two big hands were tabled, each one sending the winner to the upper ranks. The first hand was between Campomanes and Tien. After a raise war, Tien landed a straight at the flop and shoved, Campomanes risked it all with a set of queens. The turn granted Campomanes the full house for a massive double up. Two hands later, a couple of short stacks were all in, Yuji Yamashita called with A A and shipped it.

Notable players advancing to Day 3 were Yik Ray Chiu, Huy Pham, Joseph Talamayan, Lin Wenxuan, and Pham Bao. Game resumes on Saturday, April 16 at 12pm. The players will race to the money starting at 38th place then will hunt down a Final 8 seat.
