Action packed sunday with MAIN EVENT Day 2 stirring up the tables at Pro Poker Club. The first featured event of APT Vietnam Ho Chi Minh 2019 saw the return of 204 players out of the combined 402 starting day entries. With registration open for one final hour, another 56 ponied up the VND 22,000,000 buy-in to bring the total entries to 458 (340 uniques, 118 re-entries). This more than exceeded the guarantee for a healthier pot of VND 8,885,200,000 (~USD 380,000).
At the end of the scheduled 8 rounds, the money bubble wasnt’ breached. Day 2 closed with 63 players. Only 46 are due a payout with the eventual winner earning the lion’s share VND 1,892,170,000 (~USD 81,0000).
Closing Day 2 at the top of the pack was Malaysia’s Lee Boon Han with 431,000. Lee collected numerous big pots today; one of his largest was railing Anh Duy early on to set him on a course to the top.
Right on the heels of the leader was Singapore’s Low Zi Cheng with 427,500. We didn’t capture Cheng’s big pots today but we will be on the lookout coming Day 3.
Bagging up the third largest stack of 424,000 was Hong Kong’s Tso Wei. Wei’s rise came in a three-way showdown with Daiki Horikawa and APT decorated champion Harry Duong. Wei’s pocket jacks spiked a set to ship all of Horikawa’s chips and double up through Duong.
Also surviving the day’s hunt were APT decorated champions: Kannapong Thanarattrakul (226,500), Soo Jo Kim (225,000), Hisashi Ogi (149,000), Harry Duong (118,000), Cao Ngoc Anh (78,000), and Huu Dung Nguyen (21,500).
