After eight hours of scheduled play, the field trimmed to 56 players led by Vietnamese pro Ngoc Anh Cao with 676,500 in chips. Among Ngoc’s early pots was off Norbert Koh with a flush on the river. Koh also fared well with 275,500 bagged putting him in the top 15 of the counts.

Ngoc Anh Cao

Thailand pro Phachara Wongwichit closed the day second best with 540,000, though quite a distance from the leader. Wongwichit’s rise was largely due to a double up off the day’s entering front runner Pan Yue Feng who was unable to recover. India’s Ashish Munot saw his stack swing all day until a double up through Super High Roller champion Pham Tien Dung sent it soaring to bag up the third largest of 522,500. Pham also finished strong with 481,000 just below Huynh Ngoc Cuong with 507,000. Other notable players surviving the heat were Day 1A chip leader Huu Dung Nguyen, India’s Vaibhav Sharma, New Zealand’s Thomas Ward, Nguyen Quang Huy, and Terry Nguyen. You can read up on some of the day’s biggest pots via the Live Updates.

The 56 remaining players return on Monday, June 13 at 12 noon where they will race to the money which is just eight spots away. From there, they chase down a Final 8 seat, and be one step closer to the first ever APT Main Event title in Hanoi.
